Hey, I'm stuck at home trying to work up the willpower to actually study my Japanese. I haven't gotten anything done this vacation so far and the rest of the week is really booked, since there's a Japanese exchange student coming.

I am an expert at procrastination. This is not good.

The plus side is that I got REALLY good at them last year... My grade was always like an 88, but the teacher said that if it was graded the same all year, I'd be getting 95's or higher... but I still hate doing them...

Yes...I took an online essay-writing course last year for English credit. And, come to think of it, so I didn't forget how to speak English while I was over there. So as a result, I can whip off an essay fairly easily. But give me poetry or something any day.

It's a good course. Y'know the UVM writing contest thing a few weeks ago? I found out the day of that it was supposed to be an essay. The prompt was whether living forever would be a blessing or a curse. So I dashed of this vaguely 1984-ish story about an old woman in a doorless apartment thinking about how long it would be before there were too many people in the world to feed them all. It ended with "But the government will make things okay. They always will." I think that was the scariest part.

I really did it to get out of my awful US History class--writing is infinitely better than listening to my teacher ramble on. But oddly enough, I won. I hope round two takes place during that same time slot, so I can miss another class...

I don't think there were even ten kids participating in the contest (well.... for our grade at least). But they were all REALLY smart... I kinda felt outclassed... but I did alright.... I think....

Doubtful.... I was a horrible writer until the end of last year.... that's when I really began to like it.... I'm sure people would be like that now though... Quite frankly, the people who were in the contest were smart, but not many of them were great writers, even at essays...
