World War Three
World War Three
World War Three was between the New Allies and the Second Axis. They are fighting over who will control the exports of China to their own countries. Most of the battles will take place in the Pacific Ocean and in the trenches of Australia and China.
The New Allied forces consist of Canada, Britain, Russia, Australia, and the United States. The Second Axis is made up of Japan, Italy, France, and the European Powers.
World War Three started on March 31st, 2012, when Japan attacked an American convoy of barges off the coast of Africa. The barges put up a brilliant fight with only the light armament they had. They were attacked by the Japanese 7th Fleet, which was made up of two light cruisers, one battleship, and four destroyers. We lost ten of our twenty- five barges, and we damaged two destroyers and sunk a light cruiser. On the plus side, we only suffered ten casualties and all the barges were free of cargo.
The next day, President Jake Silver declared war on Japan and any of its allies. The United States was plunged into industrial overdrive to prepare to wage a long, drawn-out war. And so now, World War Three has begun.
A few months later, three hundred miles off Haiwi…
“ Bang! Ahh! Aircraft at three o’clock on the starboard side. We have an uncontrolled fire on the lower deck!” The first battle on the Pacific Front has begun. The Japanese 3rd Fleet has attacked the American supply line to Australia which consisted of twenty freighters, two battleships, three carriers, and six destroyers. The New Allies outnumbered the Japanese almost two- to –one. The battle raged for twenty minutes.
The 3rd Fleet was being badly beaten. Then, out of the gloom, the Japanese 4th Fleet and the Italian 2nd Fleet emerged. The tides have turned for the Second Axis.
Admiral Jack Johnson, aboard his flagship, the Invincible, radios Honolulu for assistance. He gets through to executive officer Fred Shawn. Fred is told about the current pinned down fleet, and contacts General Dwight. D. Dixson. Dixson is commander of the Canadian 5th Fleet, currently anchored one hundred and twenty miles from the sea battle. His Fleet consists of six battleships, three heavy cruisers, seven light cruisers, two submarines and ten destroyers.
Woosh! Admiral Johnson’s flagship is barely missed by a twenty inch shell from the battleship, Chin, headed by Vice Commander, Yoto. The Americans have been fighting for two hours now, and desperately need backup.
Commander Dixson has been ordered to assist the quickly deteriorating American ships. He sends his two submarines ahead of him to surprise The Second Axis ships, for they have no means to fight an underwater battle.
Twenty minutes later, the submarines arrive undetected. Commander Yoto is sitting in his cabin when suddenly, his battleship, the Chin, is hit by a spread of six high explosive torpedoes from the US submarine, the Challenger. Within minutes, the ship is engulfed in flames. Commander Yoto is relocated to the destroyer, Tonyo. On his was to the helm, the destroyer was strafed by three advanced F-38 Screamin’ Eagles, and he was killed instantly.
By the time Dixson arrives, all but two light destroyers of the Japanese and Italian fleets were either a floating torch, or are at the bottom of the sea. The destroyers flee, and the submarines emerge with empty magazines. When the casualties are counted, there are 3100 Americans, 4500 Italians, 18 Canadians and 8900 Japanese.
But despite their losses, the Allies counted the resistance successful, and their first victory in the Pacific. Although it would take months to rebuild our damaged supply ships, our industries could handle it. In Japan on the other hand, it might take years to rebuild their 3rd and 4th fleet. The defeat had taken a toll on their moral.
Several days later, German ground soldiers invaded Singapore. Within ten days, they had captured all the major harbors and reinforcements along with supplies were pouring in. In the next months, captives were forced to work in factories to mass produce of all sorts for the German Military.
July 8th, 2012…..
The American 2nd Fleet which had ten battleships, twelve cruisers, fifteen light cruisers and a large assortment of destroyers, baby flat tops, tankers and converted cargo ships. They were heading for the Australian port in Sydney. There they were going to refuel and meet up with five Australian carriers and six Canadian troop transports. From there, the next objective was to liberate Singapore from German rule.
And so the New Allies amphibious invasion began. There were three main beach heads, Code One, Code two and Code Three. On each beach ten thousand troops would land and have an equal amount of reinforcements. For the next four months the soldiers would have to capture ground yard for yard against the well dug-in German troops. Both sides will have a malaria problem, but will soon be solved.
Also, The Allies were planning an invasion by air on the Japanese island of Hukajamia, which was steadily being transformed into a huge naval base. The main defenses are two hundred and fifty twenty four inch Gluger Howitzers, along with forty five anti-aircraft batteries scattered around the tiny four mile by eight mile island. There is also a squadron of sea planes that have been specially modified to drop depth charges on the Allies submarines. The Japanese have created a false sense of security, that nobody can penetrate their defenses.
The Allies appoint weapons engineers Jordan Pedro and Parker Lamoureux to research the defense and design weapons and amphibious assault vehicles. President Jake Silver gave the engineers an unlimited budget and supplies. They also had access to the biggest machinist and mechanics shop on the face of the earth. The Chief of War Cabinet, Nick Southworth, was also on hand to oversee the project and tour the factory. By the end of the war, J&P Military Productions Inc. produced over twenty different models of vehicles and weapons.
Meanwhile, Chief Nick Southworth has declared war on Italian occupied India. We prepared a mock-up amphibious landing force. But actually, the real landing would be from the air. The drop date was set for October 17th.
Meanwhile, back at the factory…..
Tanks were rolling off the assembly line at about one hundred and fifty a day. In the dry docks, freighters and warships of all sorts were floating out to sea at about ten a month. Ammunition and food was being loaded onto convoys heading to Singapore and India twenty four hours a day.
October 16th, Washington D.C. Chief Nick Southworth was making final preparations for the assault. All thirteen U.S carriers were laden with troop transport planes. A total of nine thousand troops would be landing. The white parachutes were men, the black weapons and supplies. Once on the ground, the troops would search for their supply chute and gather their supplies for the attack on the heavily defended positions. From there, a beach head would need to be taken and converted into a temporary port for supply ships.
2:45 A.M., October 17th….
“ Ahhh!” Woosh! Boom! “Machine gun nest at three o’clock! Quick! We need an RPG up here, pronto! I’m here sergeant, where’s the nest? Just up ahead.” Woosh, bang! “Come on, move, move, move, move, move! Where are the engineers? We got a mine field up ahead, and it’s right in the middle of German machine gun fire.”
Three hour s later…..
“Come on! Get that ammo up to the next ridge. My guys are low on ammo and are pinned down by Machine gun, RPG and mortar fire!” Another air drop just came. But this time, it’s all supplies. Reinforcements were on their way from Australia. The paratroopers have been fighting hard for he last twenty for hours, and have sustained heavy casualties. The news for the Germans is much worst. They have lost ground, artillery, men and transportation. The longest they will be able to last is another seventy two hours, at the most.
Meanwhile in Washington…..
President Jake Silvers Secret Service was out on a man hunt, their target, the Japanese ambassador, Hashu Kyitzue. He has been on the run for several days, but can’t escape. His reason, he lost his passport.

Dear Jordan,
I came upon your story as I scanned through all of the submissions received, and I after reading the first line I was immediately hooked. You have created a unique and very interesting view of the next world war that I truly find fascinating. Not only are your choices of alliances and motivations for war captivating, but also you go into impressive detail on all of the machines, whether aircrafts, ships, or weaponry, that go into a war. You also present the specific military actions with great clarity, crafting great battle scenes. While you present a great deal of specific characters with names, I feel that you could expand these characters a bit more, giving the reader a little more insight into them. I would love to hear what some of your characters are thinking about within the story, or possibly hear a conversation between some of the commanders. You have the paragraphs of confused dialogue in the middle of the action, which I think is effective in setting the scene of the battle, but I feel that you could add more dialogue where the speaker is identified. It is hard to believe a character is real in a story if the reader is only presented with his name and nothing more. You have already done the hardest part, though, Jordan; you've created a great and gripping setting for your story. Now look to expand your ideas to make the story more well-rounded, starting by giving greater insight into your characters. I can't wait to read the next section though, I really want to see how you choose to end the story.
