Dreamer

I'm staring at the
reflection of my face
in a cup of
tea,
my features swimming
back and
forth and
molding together like
a mess of
sugar-spun clouds
twisting into a shape
that almost looks
human.
I'm realizing that
this reflection is
what I wish you
could see,
instead of that
face of
reality
who waits behind
the blunt walls of
a
mirror.
This girl who
looks back at me,
mint-scented steam
floating out of
the tendrils
of her skin
knows how
to dream.

influenced bards and
were called muses.
