My stupid mouth.
It has it's own definitions for things,
and when it says one thing,
it means another,
but no one understands my stupid mouth,
so they get offended,
really offended.
I mean something innocent,
and it comes out wrong,
and I dont mean it that way,
believe me.
So sometimes,
my stupid mouth
makes me want to cry,
especially right now...

I just said something to my friend as a joke,
something my regular friends would understand,
something I thought I was innocent
and something my friends think are innocent too,
not knowing there is an actual meaning behind the what i said that is horrible.
If I knew, then i really wouldn't have said it.
I feel so bad right now.
If I wasn't in a room full of people, I would be crying right now.

I really loved your poem...I can relate to it so much. I chose your to read your poem because the title reminded me of one of my favorite John Mayer songs, called "My Stupid Mouth". Do you know of it? Anyway, he begins it by saying:
"My stupid mouth
Has got me in trouble
I said too much again
To a date over dinner yesterday
And I could see
She was offended
She said "well anyway..."
Just dying for a subject change

Oh, another social casualty
Score one more for me
How could I forget?
Mama said 'think before speaking'
No filter in my head
Oh, what's a boy to do
I guess he better find one soon"

It sounds a lot better when you listen to it rather than read it, but you get the idea, right? I think your poem is great because we all have moments when we say the wrong thing at the wrong time, or as you discuss, we say something and it just comes out completely wrong and we end up offending someone mistakenly. We feel so bad about this when it happens, but it happens to almost everyone, so please don't cry! When someone says something to me that comes out wrong, I try not to get offended or upset because I know that I've done the same thing so many times before. If the person you offended really knows the real you, then they'll know that you really didn't mean them any harm or ill-will, and if it's someone who doesn't know you well, then all you can do is apologize and hope they understand that you really didn't mean to hurt them.
A cool idea would be to write a poem like this in the perspective of the person on the other side of the coin--the one who has been upset by a seemingly innocent comment. I think it would be difficult because it can be challenging to see things from the opposite perspective of your own, but I think it would be beneficial to look at the other point of view. Also, it would converse really well with this poem. Overall, great job, and listen to this John Mayer song!

this is so sad and frustrating, but something funny happened....
i was scrolling down the list of all the bloggers and i saw u and it says "my stupid mouth" and then theres the cute little pink picture of the happy cartoon cooking something....heehee
