My Grandfather

By:Andrew Richardson

Writing Prompt #27

When I hear the word grandpa I think of my everlasting relationship with my grandfather. Grandfathers are full of wisdom and lessons to teach you. Every summer I usually go to my grandfathers’ house for a couple of days to help him cut brush. He is so laid back when we are working and he is not in a rush to get thinks done. One day when I was working with him he noticed that I had been working really hard so he decided to take a break and we went inside and he made me a sandwich. This short break ended up taking up most of the afternoon and by the time we were ready to go back outside it was dark out. We spent the whole time talking about stupid stuff like the weather and just normal conversations that people talk about when they don’t have anything better to do. I try to take every opportunity that I get to spend as much time with my grandfather as possible because I know that he won’t always be here to give me advice. He was also diagnosed with Prostate cancer and it made me realize that maybe spending as much time with him isn’t enough. But I know that he will pull through it because he is the smartest and strongest man that I know. I’m really going to miss him when he leaves this earth.
