Nature

The sweet smell
Of the air
Out here, all alone
In these woods
Surrounded by
A myriad of colors
And uncountable lives
Every step brings
Something new
To my senses
The sound of a bird
Calling to its mate
A bug climbing
Up the trunk of a tree
The sound of
A nearby stream
Where the fish
Are swimming freely
Going wherever
The current takes them
The bear lying in wait
For one of them
To venture a bit
Too close to the shore
Once the sun
Finally sets
The darkness brings
A new type of life
Out into the open
The owls softly
Calling to each other
Perched upon their tree
Or the deer
Prancing through the forest
Looking for something
To have for breakfast
And the stars above
Glisten so brightly
Like a million little suns
Light-years away
The sounds from
The stream seem to
Be a bit louder
Perhaps because
There is less
Awake and more asleep
Perhaps I shall
Do that too
Sleep away this
Glorious night
To find out what
Awaits me in the morning
