Calling

simplicity calls with her
pure voice,
piping up through the spring trillium and
johnny-jump-ups,
beckoning the me with her grace and
passion.
She knows I'm sorry to leave,
asks me if I'm ready to
drop off
drop out
fall out of the way
and I only
Nod.
I know Complication and I have an affair planned
and I'll be back again
next autumn,
as simplicity turns her back on me
and tell me to
grow up
cheer up
go back where to where I belong
in a world of tubes and buttons,
clicks and phone-calls
But for now
I resign:
Simplicity,
My spirit
and I
have more than just a few things
to talk about.
She's calling me
and I must go.
