Have you heard of The Used? Kind of an alternative, emo, band, but this sounds like it could be one of their songs (well at least the lyrics, I obviously don't know the melody).

I like the way that they flow, and how they sound like a poem and not something that’s just trying to rhyme for the sake of rhyming. I think that “This town has left us beaten and tattered” that part is cool, because obviously you’re not talking about a town (or maybe you are) but it has a deeper meaning then whats on the surface.
