Estella

As my tired eyes read
Great Expectations
My even wearier mind
Keeps connecting you to
Estella:
The quiet queen of romantic games
Where no one wins
And everyone
Is exposed to truths
About themselves
That they aren’t prepared
To see so
Raw.
I put my inner quarrels with Pip aside
And sympathize with a poor boy
Who has to go through
What I just (thankfully) finished.
My newly energized heart
Skips along
And waits for my eyes and mind to catch up.

1. You actually read for English... I'm impressed.
2. Telling you I really liked this poem (and your connections--I always do that when I read) would be too generic,
3. But I'm saying it anyway.

About number 1...I still

About number 1...I still have 40 more pages to go for tonight (plus two dialectical journals to write about those lovely pages). But thanks though, I am a little surprised I actually read today. :P

Hehe, I'm glad you say what you mean (even if a lot of other people say the same phrase a wee bit too often).

Pippippip.
Fun. Fun. Fun.

I've got to read 50 pages of

I've got to read 50 pages of Ethan Frome, which is probably just not going to happen. Perhaps the sad part is I always get away with it...

And a history essay! That damn thing is going to kill me.

(I hate dialectical journals)

I'll work on some new phrases. Maybe in different languages. But don't ever ask me speak anything but English out loud because that would embarrass both of us... speaking of which, I have a Spanish test on Monday too...

Okay. Not sure why I just went off about all that. But it felt a little satisfying. Pip.

Do you guys take chapter

Do you guys take chapter tests or anything like that?

(Oh crap, that reminds me that I have to write my Bio lab, ugh!!!).

I don't mind 'em too much, I guess they're all right.

O0oh! That would be cool!
Have you studied missy?

It really is.

Every other honors class

Every other honors class does, but not us. (My teacher is a pushover)

(Ick, that sucks. You should boycott Bio. Demand summer vacation!)

I have indeed studied. Over at Misslit's house tonight. We definitely got at least seven good minutes in...

Lucky!!! Well, maybe not-so

Lucky!!!
Well, maybe not-so lucky if your teacher is a pushover, but at least you can get away with not doing stuff.
We have two every class. Ick.

(I'm too afraid of her, she's scary. Otherwise, YES.)

Wow, a whole 7? Impressive.

Yeah, we really don't do

Yeah, we really don't do anything. It's almost a bummer since English is one of my best subjects, and he just doesn't CHALLENGE--or interest--me at all. But maybe next year..
Two every class sounds ridiculously excessive and I'm sorry you're subjected to that.

(In that case, maybe just boycott in your mind)

I know! I thought so! And we had fish, but I've already told you that. And she doesn't know who Gumby is. (Can you BELIEVE that?)

*pip*
(Don't. I was thinking of doing the exact same thing :P)

emnoodlehead's picture

That really is a bummer

That really is a bummer then. I love my English class because he really DOES push us sometimes and his mind is fascinating to listen to stumble out as words. I'm worried that my class next year won't be as good or interesting but I guess that’s just how school goes.

(Good plan, I’ll start making the picket signs)

WHAT! Gumby was one of my childhood heroes, his adorable teal-ness was just too much to resist. :P

Well, Pip and I actually have a little rendezvous (aka: I really have to do homework so I don't stay up too late and then fall asleep during church tomorrow).
Speaking of tomorrow...yes?

mixedmusic333's picture

I love Gumby! He was at the waterfront today--did you see him? I hugged him... which was a little weird because his costume was thin and it felt more like hugging a man...

Speaking of tomorrow... probably not, as much as I would like to say yes. We're all getting up at the crack of dawn, at which point my dad is dropping me off at my mom's and not so hot on driving to Burlington. And all my mom wants to do is golf 18 holes.

Next Saturday though?
(I might actually be in NH that day so I have to make sure)

emnoodlehead's picture

Awe, I must've missed him. I hugged Newton though, woot woot!

Oh fun, golf is cool (and I say that sincerely). Have fun!

I have a date that weekend but I'm not sure which day yet.
How about we both make sure then?

(Oh snap-doodle, I really DO have to go now. Bye!!)

mixedmusic333's picture

Score! That definitely beats

Score! That definitely beats hugging a man.

I'm actually not golfing, I'm watching the steps while they go somewhere in Williston to do it. Bleh. I guess that's when I'll tackle Ethan Frome.

Sounds like a plan.

(Goodnight!)
