Marriage

Dear world
I'm getting colder older
And losing faith in this
Once-indelible union that
Brought my parents your parents
Together. His parents
Your parents apart.
Broken hearts
Strewn on living room floors
Amongst the pieces
Of that vase that crashed smashed
As it flew at his face.
This is wrong and I give up
When will they tell me
That they too have
Cheated left me defeated
And unsure about whether
Love ever truly lasts.
