Catching Up With The New

Mango's picture

The door bell rang,
I didn't come.
The world could fall
And I would hover
For that moment,
A chick
With wet wings.

His voice called
From the other
Side of
The wood.
My name.
My name.

I think.

Too much to think
About.
I bit my lip
Until it bled
And ran up the
Stairs,
Leaving his
Anguished cries for
Me
Behind.

I tried to tell myself
I was too busy
But all I did
After I locked the door
Was watch
The tears fall
Down
My cheeks
In the mirror
And wonder who
I was.

love your tone in the poem, my favirite line:
"my name, my name"
the double emphasis really adds a cool effect!
