The Beautiful

Podcast:

This is a song I started writing a while ago, and just discovered again today. The verse is almost more poetry than song... it's a new style I'm working with. Enjoy.

Chorus:
I wish you could hear me,
I am trying to speak clearly.
If I pretend that these lyrics aren't true,
will you still know that this one's for you.
Oh, this one's for you.

Your artwork sits in the cave
of my pocket,
pressed close
to my heart pumping
blood the color of change,
as my mind skips back to
your fingers locked inside of mine,
entwined for a second
while I wondered what
the rest of your skin
feels like.

Chorus

My body longs to know
what your face looks like
when night wraps
her arms around you,
and how do your eyes shine
with shadows of moonlight?
I'm ready to hold you,
our breath mixing melodies,
I don't care how
unpredictable this story is,
now, I'm ready to live
next to your warmth.

Today, your lips were a whisper.
You painted them across my cheek,
while my face dipped down
to plant a secret
in the warmth of your neck,
and your skin felt
like freedom.

Chorus

Today I was a constellation,
stars growing
like plants on my skin,
and you were comfort,
your smile like honey that
my lips longed to taste,
your hair the curls of faerie-silk
ready to be tangled in my hands.
I am ready to get lost in you until
maybe our breath would be
the world,
the everything,
the beautiful.

Chorus
