A Morning of Peace

a/n: so a few posts ago i had a list of things i wanted to write. this is the 'soft' entry. it's been a while since i've written fluffy things like this, so please forgive me if it's not too good !

"Morning.."
Her soft yawn in my ear had the hint of a smile behind it. Her arms were around my waist underneath our shared comforter, and she pulled me closer, nuzzling her head into my hair. "You're beautiful.."
I smiled softly, leaning back. "No, you."
There was a breeze coming in from the windows, blowing the light curtains inwards. The hem of one nearly touched my nose before settling back against the windowseat and pillows. Jack, our cat, stretched, his little claws coming out from his paws as he did. He then blinked at us, meowing loudly.
"Someone wants food," Isi said sleepily, drawing the comforter over our shoulders - it had slipped sometime during the night. "But I wanna sleep.."
I closed my eyes, leaning back into her. "Maybe we should sleep in some more. We don't have anything going on today, right?"
"No, I don't think so.." Her breathing became a little deeper a few moments later as she gradually fell back asleep. I nearly did too, if not for Jack meowing again.
"Alright, alright, I'll feed you, dumb cat," I groaned, getting up. Isi's arms slipped from around me as I got to my feet - she wasn't happy with that.
"Oh, c'mon! What happened to us going back to bed?" She complained, rubbing her eyes. I was buttoning up my shirt - I turned to her as Jack rubbed against my leg. "We can nap later. Jack's just being a jackass."
Isiroux greeted my pun by throwing a pillow at my face. I caught it and set it down on the window seat, pulling up my socks. "You can do better than that, Delity!" She shrugged on a shirt as she spoke.
"Nah." I pet Jack, if only to get him to stop yelling. The curtains blew around me as the wind went wild outside, carrying the sound of children playing into our bedroom. "Ah, I'm glad they're having fun."
"Mmm. I'm glad the center didn't separate them. They sound like they're having the time of their lives." Once Isi finished dressing herself, she straightened the bedsheets, setting the pillows straight. She turned to me, her hair mussed, butt with a smile on her face nonetheless. "You're so pretty with the sun to your back like that, Del. I love you."
I reached out and tucked a lock of her hair behind her ear, my own smile on my face. "And I love you too. You're amazing."
Her laugh touched my heart.
