Mural of No End

nanakamonkeysis's picture

The light licks the crest of the dark water's waves
The horizon does not exist in this late hour
Ahead of us only lies the infinite sparks of possibility
The whispers of voices from the trees call all around us
Trying to pull us into the abyss
The weeping willow wraps her arms around our shoulders
Pushing us together
The earth feels frozen beneath us
The faint heat from your nearby body reassures me there is hope in our future
To most the dark is the foulest of places
But to us it is our escape
In the dark the sky and waves combine
We can go anywhere
We break down our daylight boundaries
We imagine the impossible:
Staying here forever - no place else we would rather be
The faint flickering stars on the lake seem to stare back at us
Two worlds apart we are from
But one thing in common:
Our future is as uncertain as the ripples in the water...
Or is that the sky?
Creatures scamper between the tall blades of grass we set our weight on
This is their time, too
We must scamper away from the trees' lullabies and find our intense feelings in the nearby future
The frozen ground only bites my uncovered toes as streetlights guide our way
My hairs stand on end as we share our past with the mural of no end at our backs
Our journey is no longer as the door
As cold as the ground
Stares us to a halt
It will soon seperate our two worlds once again
But always above us is the same star-lit sky
Whether lit by the moon or covered by the sun.
Our souls seem intimate as we stand like the now quiet trees
We control our mural
We splash it with color
The dark seems to disappear
Moments yet to be experienced fade away as our canvases are colored now by vibrant colors of a kiss.

I'm not going to say I hope

I'm not going to say I hope you get over missing him (because no one ever really does) but you did a really amazing job with this. I was trying to think of what you might have been trying to say, and was having a hard time coming up with it. Reading it again, it makes sense.
