Library Politics

This is the almost-ten-minute entirety of a political conversation/debate between MMUers Quinn, Clayton, and our very own SnowStars in the MMU library. There are brief interjections by my friend Harry. The female voice nearest the recorder is mine, stumbling over myself as I realize I'm on tape...I'd better get over that, huh? Everyone else did brilliantly, though.
This'll be edited down and made, uh, less than ten minutes for my radio journalism project podcast. But right now all I've edited out is a discussion on the true meaning of SNAFU between SnowStars and I at the beginning.

Hee hee.
Epic.
In a quiet way.
But it WAS the library, after all.
Darn my annoying cold.
Good call on the removal of SNAFU definition. :)

Insanity is an impression I like to cultivate. It keeps normal people away.
Hrm.
Interesting.
This is Vermont, after all.
It's too difficult to really see past the political party lines here if we actually come face to face with them. The number of Democrats in our state is overwhelming, and still we have a Republican governor (who, by the way, was just on the news - for what, I don't know; I was listening to this instead). I assume, from what I heard, that you support Symington for governor (or at least SnowStars does). Oh, and of course, Obama for President. I feel that the Republicans in our state are greatly outnumbered (at least among the common people), and it just puts up this huge wall between acceptance and their political beliefs. Now, there are a lot of people that can be tolerant, but... let's just say some people are a little too extreme for my tastes.
Whoo. Jeez, that looks pretty long right about now.
Political speech is meant to be free. I respect you and your views, and I enjoyed listening to your podcast.

Great...
This is wonderful. Three technical issues to help in future recordings....
1. In the library, speakers tend to lower their voices which...
2. Raises the level of the background noises. (Is there a brook in the library?) The background noise is always a problem because a) it makes splicing later stuff problematic and b) it is harder to hear the primary speaker... Find a quiet room without fluorescent lights....(A large padded closet would be nice; just joking... some place where there's no traffic... the stage in the auditorium? An administrative office or conference room? A music practice room? Or even outside....)
3. Somehow, the voices need to be at the same level (have the recorder equally distant from speakers) and try to get others NOT to talk while someone is speaking...
The content...
I like the challenging that goes on here -- civil questioning of each other. I wish that happened during the debates. The conservative in the mix, the boy, seemed to not push his ideas. Intimidated? Not prepared? Might want to talk to him separately for follow up...You'll need to do it in the library so the background sound matches...
Loved the Palin stuff.... And loved the questions... who's asking those questions? Like the conservative christian mother idea... Is that snowstars? (Good for you if it is.)
I like the couldn't care less comment ... "It doesn't pertain to me" ... pursue that idea. why? what would make it all more relevant? (Is it all about what the boy says following that: that it's all about trust?)
great job. great start.
gg
Yes, it was indeed
Yes, it was indeed SnowStars- with the cold-affected female voice.
Most of the questions are Usagi's.
And it would have been great to move it to a better location, but since it was spontaneous, we didn't.
I believe that the conservative boy knew he was wrong. :)

Disregard.
Damn double posting.
I quite like this. I wish
I quite like this.
I wish some American adults were as informed as you guys.
More of these would be amazing.
Aye. I have
Aye. I have several other interviews I'll post as soon as we can upload podcasts again. And a brief exchange with a teacher I'm glad I no longer have to endure, during I had the recorder hidden down my shirt for lack of pockets.
On second thought, maybe I won't post that.
NEED TO KNOW
Who was the teacher you were going to tape?
Was it *shifty eyes* Callahan?
Yes. Yes, it was.
Who...are you?
*suspicious glance*
