Missing

I feel your absence
keenly, sharp as winter's teeth along
bare arms: knife-edged
and icy cold.
Summer's slipped away.
Frost will kill the few leaves left still green
and snow already threatens in the air:
taunting, not long now. Aren't you
cold?
Aren't you lonely?
(Leaves flutter limply to the frozen ground.)
The seat beside me is empty.
The room is silent.
I'm missing something, missing you--
I miss you.
