Too cool

Too cool
By Ashley Dufresne
Leland and Gray Union High School, Grade 10
I watch and laugh as I think
I'm glad I know that’s not cool
The sad fact is that you feel
That image is a good way to represent you
Or do you?
Why you feel like you have to pretend
Behind clouds of smoke in which we can not see
What your image is really supposed to be
Everyone knows you must not like
The taste in which you feel in spite
Is killing you with every breath you inhale
Exhale your future, minutes you could have lived
All because you got addicted when you were a kid
For whatever reason you desire to try
The stuff the media pretends to hide
You know deep down inside
Every breath you take you're living a lie
A lie that makes you look not just UNcool
But someone who doesn’t care
What the future holds in store for you
