Summer Nights

My day is done, so I sit here,

Under the stars, twinkling gleefully down at me

Still, the hot summer day lingers like a sticky residue on my skin

I let the night wash it away, as a

Cool breeze is swept through the trees. I can

Always count on the night to come back, so I can

Let the cool air wash over me once more.

So many thoughts race through my head

Utill the day is done. But now, I sit in a

Meditative state, listening to the

Musical crickets hum a sweet tune, watching fireflies dance, hot

Embers tossed in the wind, a beacon, a signal for me to

Return home soon. But I am home.

Now that the hot day is done,

I can stretch out in the soft grass, the

Green bleached white by the moon.

Her shape smiles at me, a silver crescent in the black sky. She

Too, enjoys these cool summer nights

So we both stay, in this small but blissful part of our forever.
