I've read the books and I'm so exicited for the movie! I think it'll be pretty good, I just don't think Kristen plays the best Bella character. She's like not feminine enough or something, but I still think it will be amazing. (hopefully)

I think she'd be fine for Bella if she was more.... Bella.

Kristen Stewart is good for Bella, but Bella's Bella, and Kristen Stewart is not Bella.
Wow, great logic there.

Agreed- the movie probably won't follow the book enough- and Robert is too creepy and the chick they cast as Bella is awful- she looks like a man sounds like a man, and is NOT A BELLA.

Unfortunately, not.

I agree with you special. Well not about the Robert part. Robert seems like a good Edward to me, but about the Bella part. She isn't a Bella.

I'm going on Friday. I just realized that there was going to be a midnight one on Thursday, and when I go on Friday the movie won't be NEW anymore. :(

I think I'm going to love it, but that's just me. Maybe that's because I'd love anything with Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner in it... But anyway... I am a huge fan of the movies. And it looks like they've got good actors/actresses to play the characters, if not perfect. I LOVE Ashley Green. She's the perfect Alice in my mind. I don't like Kristen playing Bella, either. Her voice is kind of... deep, and she's just not how I imagined Bella to be. Oh well, I guess I'll wait and see before I start ranting about something.

Instead of discussing the

Instead of discussing the alleged greatness of Alexander the Great, my history class started talking about this movie today. I asked one girl why she liked the books so much. Quote: "Because I'm in love with Edward."

There we have it.

People're gonna flock to the movie 'cause of the popularity of the books. The movie could be horrible, and still top the charts. 'course, they'll want to capitalize on a sequel, and if the first movie sucks, nobody will want to see the second.

apples's picture

Wow

I really wish we had a discussion like that in our classes.... though I am looking foreward to the movie, I'm not because every flipping girl in the theater is going to flip out when they see Edward and I'll probably end up puking from disgust. I do agree that the movie will be highly successful regardless of how good/bad it is, but I'm hoping that it's going to be good.... *since I'm paying $8 to see the thing*

One thing that irks me is fans at my school who insist that this is some sort of second Citizen Kane or some other classic-in-the-making. Those who admit to its campiness are at least modest and truthful.

Then there are those who spread the rumor that Harry Potter was moved back because of it.

They should double check the dates, since Harry Potter was moved back, oh, about a month before the movie's screening date was released.

Ugh. Hype.

They're correlated.

Twilight was, in fact, moved forward because Harry Potter was moved back - but that doesn't necessarily mean that Harry Potter was moved back because Twilight was moved forward.

hmmm...

It's funny....I'm excited to see the movie but at the same time I already KNOW that it won't be anywhere near as good as the books. Bella is horrible in the movie. According to some of my more obsessed friends, the original movie script had her depicted as some kind of track star....that's not Bella!!! They did eventually change the script but if that was their original intent with her character, then I think that I'm just looking forward to being disappointed.

I agree with Alicejazz, that Jasper is my favorite character. I just saw the movie and the book is like ten times better. The book made everything edgy, and mysterious, but the movie just made everything funny and it kind of made Edward look a little stupid. Twilight

Hey! I loved the movie! It was pretty much true to the book. I loved seeing Edward on the big screen! He's soo hot!

qwertygirl's picture

The movie

It was OKAY. I did NOT think it was amazing, fortunately I wasn't disappointed, because I didn't expect much. Alice is the best character, and they didn't do enough with her. Edward and Bella looked exceedingly awkward on stage together. The best part of the entire movie was when Edward drove Bella to school and then walked her to the door and everyone was staring, when he had the sunglasses on, and said "As long as I'm going to hell, I might as well do it thoroughly". I thought that that one part was the truest to the book.

Movie...

I have a lot of mixed reactions. I do think that some of the scenes could have been logner. The biology scene, the meadow scene- they zipped by super fast. Edward could have sparkled more. I was curious to see how they would do that. He sparkled enough but it looked more like glitter, then how I thought he would look like when I was reading the book. If only we could have seen more of the Cullens though. I really wanted to see the Blood type chapter, and also the part where Bella is in Edward's lap and Alice jokes about eating Bella. My favorite scene would probably have to be the baseball scene. Overall, I think it was a very good movie, and I'm going to see it again and again- to make the sequels come alive.

I thought it was okay. I

I thought it was okay. I thought Kirstin Stewart and Robert Pattinson played a good Bella and Edward, but it wasn't the Bella and Edward from the books. They were different. But still good.
A lot of it was changed, though. (Some good, some bad). It did NOT stay true to the books.
From my friend: Our friend who was a girl that didn't read the book thought it was really good. Our friend who was a guy that didn't read the book thought it was really bad, or at least pretty bad. In some parts I thought the movie was embarrassing b/c it didn't follow the book and the actors just said really stupid stuff (like when Kristen was practically hyperventilating and then Rob asked her if she was afraid of him and she was all of a sudden fine). Something really cool that we caught was Stephenie Meyer in a cameo.
Anyways (this is icuc again), we thought it was pretty good. And we're gonna watch it again (using pause quite a bit when we get the DVD). But we (at least me) didn't absolutely LOVE it.

Twilight Reveiw...

AGH THAT MOVIE SUCKED.
I didn't even have high expectations, but it SUCKED anyways. >.<
Kristen Stewart couldn't deliver any lines. A drunken monkey could've said it better. Even the looks. When she was supposed to be looking all introspective, she looked bored and tired and out of focus. She didn't act well at all. She's also MUCH too sturdy for Bella.
Robert Pattinson was alright. He almost tried too hard to be Edward, and just ended up looking humorous.
Jackson Rathbone was phenomenal. He was the only reason I didn't get up and leave the theater, which I would have, if not for him. He was awkward in all the right places, and attentive, and totally and completely Jasper.
The rest of them sucked.
I don't recommend this movie to ANYONE. Especially die-hard Twilight fans.

emotive.eleven's picture

Twilight

It was okay. Not amazing, not completely disappointing. It was what I expected. There were good parts where it was worth it, and then there were lines said wrong and awkwardness.
One of the things they didn't get right at all was how in the books Bella and Edward are really careful around each other and how Edward keeps a lot of distance from her, and in the movie they jumped right from him cringing away from her in biology to them almost kissing, and from there it seemed like he had perfect restraint and didn't have to be careful. Which isn't how it is at all.
Kristen Stewart played a good Bella separate from the Bella in the book. she was wrong for that, but looking at it separately she was good.
Robert Pattinson is the image of Edward, in that way he's perfect for the role, but some of the lines he said wrong, didn't emphasize the right things, something. I think part of it might have been him trying to talk without a British accent, which did slip through sometimes, but I think it wouldn't have been bad for him to have said the lines right and have had the accent.
Something else.... there were times where a song would start playing and it didn't fit (my friend's adjective: un-Twilighty) at all, or there would be a scene switch and it wouldn't fit. Like around the Port Angeles part, there was a scene change and I honestly thought they had screwed it up and part of the James Bond movie was playing instead of Twilight. And the part where James and Victoria and Laurent attack the fisherman guy? That was really confusing, and if I hadn't seen the trailers and the interviews where it says who they are, I would have been completely confused.
Okay, I need to shut up and go to bed now. Really.
-E
(also, it's hard to get used to a pushy Edward who climbs trees and calls Bella "spider monkey.")

Surgeo Church's picture

Twilight Review.

I am not currently sure what I thought of this movie. There were many up close, facial shots, which were quite funny, I believe. Edward staring at Bella was hilarious, too. I did not expect it to satisfy, mainly because I went into it disliking Kristen Stewart. I really do not like her acting, and this movie furthered that. Her eyes made her look like she was on drugs a lot of the time, and I just did not feel that she delivered her lines well. I felt like the scenes jumped around a lot in comparison to the book. Edward running was also quite cheesy. Not to mention Jasper looked brain-dead, I don't recall Emmett speaking, and the Cullens' house looked completely wrong.

The Edward sparkling was totally wrong. It looked like sweat or something to me, not at all beautiful and mystical. That scene was also rushed into, and not how I imagined it at all. I suppose everyone has their own views, but it just bothered me. But, I did love the baseball scene, mostly for the song - I love Muse. Hitting the ball could have been a bit more intense, though. Alice was perfect in my opinion, and she was especially Alice-like in this scene. I also liked Carlisle a lot, but I did not like Esme. Maybe because their parts weren't as prominent as I believe they were in the book. I thought the bad vampires were very good, except the seemingly random parts they put in with them killing people. It sort of confused me. My sister and I spent more time picking on it afterward than anything, but maybe that is because we have read the book.

I suppose I'll have to see it again when it comes out on DVD, to analyze it more. I think some of the ways it was shot were bothersome, but the overall film's look depicted the way I imagined the book to look well, besides the Cullens' estate. The music I did not like, besides during the baseball scene. I just did not think it fit. The actress who played Rosalie I thought looked too old. I liked Robert Pattinson as Edward in general. I think I'm being too picky, though. I guess I'm currently just undecided.

Twilight

vamps run, they don't fly...
I think that the movie was just a really bad summary of the book. I mean seriously, Emmett said the same stuff over and over again and jasper had FOUR lines...yes, i counted.
I think that the visuals were bad, b/c if i hadn't read the books i would've thought that edward was sweating and not sparkling. the producers made jasper look like a creeper, james was sexy (according to one of my friends, not me) and jacob looked like a girl(i'm sorry, but it is kinda true).
I think that it would have been a lot better if they had taken the time to stick to the cook and explain the vamps (cullens---JASPER)
my mom didn't even know what jasper and alice could do, for like their gift. i was just like, "yeah, the book was soooo much better!"
at least, that is my opinion...
