Vermont

Would I live in Vermont in ten years if I could? You bet I would! Vermont is my home, the icing of an Oreo cookie. There are many reasons why I would live in Vermont ten years from now. I would come back because I couldn’t imagine living any where else but Vermont. I also love the country, and I have lived here my whole life. These are three of many reasons why I would come back to Vermont in ten years.
First off, I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else but in Vermont. Vermont (in case you didn’t know) has four seasons; spring, summer, fall and winter. That’s what’s cool about Vermont. In the spring, it is cool and rainy. Spring is known here as “mud season,” because it gets so muddy here. Spring is also the season that we Vermonters are famous for making maple syrup. In the summer, it can get up to about 90 degrees, and it can get very humid. There’s a nice warm breeze, corn fills the cornfields, and the crickets sing you to sleep. Fall is my personal favorite. Fall is when it starts to get chilly again, and when the leaves change from a plain green, to many beautiful, bright colors. I love it when the leaves change because the colors fill the country side. It’s so beautiful. Winter is also popular in Vermont. When the snow flies, it’s skiing in Vermont for many people. You can ask many people in New York, and many of them will tell you, “I went skiing this weekend in Vermont and it was beautiful.” Many people here ski, too. That’s what I like about Vermont/ Fairfield. It has four different seasons, unlike California, where it’s hot and sometimes rainy year round. It’s different that many of the other states. That’s one reason why I would come back to Vermont in ten years.

Secondly, I love the country, and Vermont is made up of mostly country land, or small old towns. I am a country girl. I know many places have country land, but Vermont is the only place that I’ve really fallen in love with. I’ve always lived in the country. I have visited cities, but I didn’t really care much for them. Cities are way too loud for me, no offence for the people that live in and like the city. In the country, you can actually hear the birds sing. Also in the city, everything is all scrunched and tight together. In the country, everything is spread out and there is plenty of space. That’s what I like about the country. If I had the choice, I would definitely pick living in Vermont/ Fairfield over New York City! That’s why I would live in the country over any place else. This is another reason why I would live in Vermont in ten years.
Thirdly, Vermont is where I have lived my whole life, all thirteen years. This is my home. As I said before, Vermont is like the icing in an Oreo cookie. My family and I are like the cookie part, and Vermont, my home, is like the icing. Vermont/ Fairfield holds many memories of my childhood, all the way up to now. Since the day I was born, (May 29th) the day before my mother’s; to when my sister and I accidentally drove the car down the driveway, but my dad saved us. I can remember when I started going to Fairfield Center School in kindergarten; to the days when my sister, some neighborhood friends, and I would play hide-and-go-seek in the cemetery next to my house. To the day when we had a Valentine’s Day blizzard and the snow against the garage door was over six feet tall and we didn’t have school for three days straight! All those memories and more, all the way up to now, the year that I am in 8th grade, graduating Fairfield Center School, and moving on to high school. All those memories happened and will happen in my “cozy” town of little Fairfield, Vermont. I would choose this town over any other town because of the memories of

my life that are now in it. This is my last reason why I would live in Vermont in ten years from now.
These were three reasons why I would live in Vermont/ Fairfield in ten years; I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else because of the four seasons that we have, I love the country, small towns and open spaces, and I have lived here my entire life. I want to live here because this is where my memories are, and I want to make my new memories here, in years
to come.
