Vermont
I think that raising a family in Vermont would help the younger children to appreciate how lucky they are and to learn about all the wildlife in Vermont. When the kids have learned that Vermont doesn’t allow billboards like other states, they would be surprised. But then the parents, who had understood their parents, would tell them why, and I would think that it would be a good reason. The reason I have learned would be that if we had a billboard it would ruin the beautiful landscape for everyone to enjoy. If we had billboards everywhere, the Vermont wildlife and people would lose land, and people and animals need land.
One thing I would like to change about Vermont would be about winter. Since I am a huge fan of skiing, I think we should have longer winters. We only have a few months for Vermont to be cold, so why do we have so many warm months and so little time for Vermonters to have winter? I think the cold should be longer and the warmth should be shorter. If we did this change, it wouldn’t be good for people who like the warmth so, Vermont should replace spring and summer, and fall should be winter and the winter should be summer. That is one thing I would like to change about Vermont.
I would like to live in Vermont for 10 years because I love all the state has to offer. Living in Vermont for me was going outside and just thinking how lucky we are to have a great landscape and wonderful experiences. The farm has really made a difference in my life. Going to school on Shelburne Farms has really taught me to be responsible for animals. Just thinking how much I have learned has been really special to me. Living in Vermont has been a great experience for my family and me. It is peaceful, fun for families, and offers many outdoor activities. Skiing, hiking, biking, and climbing are a few of my favorites!
The most important thing for me in Vermont is that I go to school on a farm. I have been going to school at the Renaissance School ever since kindergarten. Now that I am in 4th grade, I understand the tools, the work, and the fun on Shelburne Farms. Science with our farm educator, Peter has really taught me about the work on the farm and that it is not easy! Our school also has a job called farm chores. There, you feed animals, clean pens, and transport animals to different pens. Going to school here has really taught me to be a farmer and to appreciate the environment.
Living and growing, going to school on a farm, what more could a kid ask for! Playing and learning on the farm we know as Shelburne Farms. Instead of a metal playground, we have a field to play in and woods to build forts in. Kids who go to public school don’t get to do this at all. I am happy to be a Vermont citizen.
