The One, The Only, Vermont.

FLASH. BANG. WEE-WOO WEE-WOO. THe big city sounds. The big. The busy. The crowded and confused. Or, silence. Peace. Calm. The Vermont lifestyle. As a child, I was not given a choice, it was made for me. My life began in Vermont. As a young child, I grew up playing in the street, or on Mt Tom, or in the park. Everything was calm, although i didn't know the difference, because I'd not yet seen anything else. I don't remember a specific first time in a city, but I've been many times throughout my life and the thing about going was that I always wanted to come back. Come home, to my Vermont. Burlington certainly is a city, but not as much as Boston.
One difference between Boston and Burlington is that there are billboards in Boston. We don't have billboards in Vermont. We don't have chains in Vermont. Well no, that's a lie, we have chains, but not as many, and most are smaller and more local. That's another great thing about Vermont. Local. I've been to very few Starbucks in my lifetime. However, I've been to Woodstock Coffee and Tea, a local coffee shop owned by a girl who used to go to my high school. Local. Vermont means local. Community.
Currently I'm a junior in high school and I'm starting to look at colleges. The values I've come to expect from my life in Vermont are really affecting where I'm going to look to attend. I love the small town and rural life of being a Vermonter, and I'd like to find somewhere that has the same values. Ten years from now if I can I will be living here, five years from now (when I graduate college) I'll be living here if I can. While I want a good life for myself, it that life isn't somewhere small town I'm not sure what I'd do.
I'm a Vermonter at heart, and thats all I ever want to be. Vermont is, and will always be, my home.

re: The One, the Only, Vermont
You did a great job of discussing the reasons why you love Vermont and how important this state is to your life. You made some good points about the lack of billboards in Vermont as well as the idea of Vermont being local. Remember, though, that there are other places, all over the world, that you may find just as beautiful, if not more so. Do not let your opinions of places outside of Vermont limit the experiences you can have in life. There were a few gramatical errors I noticed that you may want to take a look at. Keep up the good work!
