Week 22: Captain Shimi -- Phoebe Plank

Key of Wiki Treasure
By Phoebe Plank

Ferrisburgh Central School, Grade 5

“Land ho, mateys!” shouted Captain Shimi to her crew. “There it is, the Mishi Village. Lower the anchor!” This is the first time Captain Shimi and her crew stepped on land in a long while. As they stepped off their ship Captain Shimi’s parrot shouted, “Land! Land!”
“Quiet!” snapped Captain Shimi.
As the rugged crew, in baggy clothes, lumbered down the dirt road, they showed their black and yellow teeth as they growled at everyone they passed. When they reached the house of Wise Willow, Captain Shimi ordered her crew to wait outside when she went in. As she got inside, she spied the old woman, her gray hair pulled back in a tight bun, wearing a faded pink dress, in her rocking chair as usual. “Oy! Shimi!” she called in a hoarse voice. “I thought you’d never make it.”
“Oh, Willow! I’d never skip coming to talk to you about where I can get my hands on some treasure.”
The crew waited anxiously, wondering what was going on. After a few moments of silence Captain Shimi walked out holding the glistening key to the Wiki Treasure on the island Bah in her clenched fist.
Captain Shimi held the beautiful key high up in the air. The whole crew rejoiced. They were so happy they were going to get their hands on more treasure.
What they didn’t know was that Captain Shimi’s archenemy, La Mario, was listening to every word. He went back to his crew and said, “We’re going to take a trip to the island Bah.”
Shimi’s long, knotted ponytail flapped in the breeze of early summer. The smell of salty sea air filled her nose. Captain Shimi enjoyed being on the sea again.
A group of members from the crew were busy having a sword fight, when all of a sudden someone on the lookout shouted, “I see land!” The whole crew looked over the side of the ship to see. One of the crew members, astonished, shouted, “Blimey! There is a speck of land out there!”
By the next morning, the ship hit land. As the crew was getting off the ship, Captain Shimi looked at her map. They had reached their destination. As she looked up from her map she saw her arch-enemy and his crew dashing down the sandy shore heading for the Wiki Treasure. She was so furious she hissed to her crew, “Go catch me those scumbuckets!”

She jumped down and started to run down the sandy beach with her crew right behind. When Captain Shimi was only a few feet away from her archenemy she bellowed at the top of her lungs, “CHARGE!!”
La Mario pulled his sword from his belt, as did Captain Shimi, and they began a terrible fight. Captain Shimi’s crew fought the best they could. After a while La Mario and his crew surrendered because they had been harshly beaten. That left Captain Shimi to take the Wiki Treasure. They found the (X) on the map and dug up the beautiful chest, which held even more beautiful treasures. They opened the chest and gazed at the glowing gold, jewels and jewelry.

Captain Shimi ordered her crew to load the chest, full of treasures, onto the ship. For a while they were rich. That is, until they traded all the treasures they had. Captain Shimi wanted more so she sailed her ship back to Mishi Village to ask Wise Willow for a new adventure. To this day Captain Shimi and her crew are searching for more treasures to keep them wealthy.
