Give feedback!

Each day we have new writing -- and new selections on the front page. An important part of this project is to give each other positive, constructive feedback. So add your comments to the writing. Read as a writer. Help out your fellow young writer!

Pearl Harbor

Pearl Harbor
One morning I woke up to sirens going off and generals yelling Wake Up! Wake up! I jumped out of bed and went for my close .I got dressed quickly and headed outside of the base. Men were handing out guns and ammo. I heard anti aircraft guns and I saw enemy planes. Then from across the bay there was a big boom and a flash.
The Arizona ship had been hit by a torpedo. Me and some friends jumped into a
Rescue boat and headed out to help the stranded men. A enemy plane zoomed in and
men on the beach fired at him he went down in the deep, cold ocean. We got all the men we could fit on the rescue boat then we headed back to shore. When we got to shore the general told me and some other men to go work at the hospital because it was packed. I jumped into a jeep and headed to the hospital on the way I didn’t see any people. When I went by the airfield I saw that every plane had been bombed because the pattern they
were in had trapped them in the airfield. Finally I got to the hospital there was a huge line outside. I helped in the hospital all day long. At the end of the day I went back to the base. The attack was over for now. America had declared war.

Saint Michael's College

Saint Michael's College mentor: Wow, I really like this story because of all the detail you include! I think you did a good job creating a complete picture, so the reader feels like he or she is there. Maybe you could even add more detail when you are talking about working at the hospital or going back to the base since these two areas are a little less descriptive than the others. Good job!
