War

Today, on my way to Essex, we drove past the airport. It was the part that's near Pizza Putt and that Hot Tub store. A large 747 stood in the boundaries of the airport. A line o soldiers entered the plane, one by one. Buses were lined up, one by one. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they were going to Afghanistan. I could feel the tears escaping my eyes.

War
We can all agree that war is a terribly sad thing. That is not where there is disagreement. Disagreement comes when we debate on whether or not war is justified. Heres my opinion - until the end of Earth, there will always be war. Always. Here is the reason why: we are born imperfect. By imperfect, I mean that we will make mistakes, it is inevitable. Because of this, even if there is no good reason to start a war, some of us will go to war anyway for trivial reasons. War is at the heart caused by one or more of these things: either territory – one country declares war on another in order to inherit that countries natural resources and admirable landscapes and other benefits etc. Or, political issues - when wars are fought from the cause of one country offending or endangering the other in some way. It may be an act of terorrism, it may be an affending accusation, or some other cause which puts the citizens at possible risk. There is also war deriving from long imbedded rivalry between two countries, the reason of the rivalry long forgotten. Territorial war is dying out (although the Israel-Palestine conflict is one of few exceptions), so most wars now are fought over political reasons. The United States is in Afghanastan due to what started at 911. Our reason for being there is that we are fighting a war on terrorists who are blaintly out to kill you, me, and the rest of the United States. Right now we are in a very tricky spot. Some would have us totally retreat from Afghanistan. That is not a reasonable solution at the time. Now the terrorists may have succeeded in wasting our time and resources, but just dropping the gun would encourage them to launch direct attacks to the US. However, we cannot eradicate every single terrorist, and if you knock down one corrupt leader another one will rise to take their spot. That is what makes fighting a concept (terrorism) so hard. What we are aiming for is to stabilize Afghanistan enough so that their government is at a point were they can keep the terrorism under control. So is it necessary that we stay in Afghanistan? No. But at the time, know that it is the best thing we can do for our country, and never forget what our soldiers are sacrificing to keep you and I safe. Thanks for letting me share my opinion.
