Sunset

Sunset

Editor's note: The author had a poem in another location that seemed to fit this picture. We have copied it and put it with the photo.

This is a photo of a sunset that I took in my back yard. It was a beautiful sunset and luckily I had the opportunity to capture it. I enjoy taking pictures of nature, especially sunsets.

Mother Sun
The beauty of Mother sun descending,
Her colorful rays amidst the darkening sky
Remind me that this world is full of miracles.

I hastily run inside the house
To try to find my camera to capture this Kodak moment.
I find it where I thought it was—
Securely resting in its black carrying case in my room.
I take it out, turn it on, and head back out
When I look up, I just want to shout:
“Why didn’t you want to be remembered forever?
You were such a mesmerizing sight!”

She was gone! Her rays were too!
The sky had shown no signs of her presence—
It was a solid dark blue.
“Tomorrow”, I thought, I will stand out here
with my camera
And at the sky I will gaze
And when she returns I will again be amazed!
Tomorrow evening I bet,
I will capture the miracle of a sunset!

Why I liked this...

Sunsets are the most photographed event on earth it seems. And many such photos are kind of bland. What I liked about this photograph was the colors. I liked the movement and the contrast.

Thanks for sharing it with us.

what I like about this piece

I like the place setting and how the trees really stand out. the other thing that i like is how the prompt really describes the picture that you took in your back yard. the things that i like are the colors in the picture, how the orange really blends with the shading where the trees stood.

where was this picture taken because it's really nice looking?

P.S. this is a really nice piece.......
