Forgoten Friend (Teddy)

I held you tight so many nights
when there were those monsters in my closet

You were always my hero in the stories mommy told
and you would rescue me from the dragons

Do you remember when we were younger and got married
and my brother Billy talked for you?
But I swear your stiched smile moved when
I said "I do"

Do you remember when I was 12 and Brenna came over
and I hid you under my pillow so that she wouldn't find you?
But she did and she laughed as she taught me how to put on mascara

Or when I was sixteen and Tyler came over
I sat you on my window sill so you could watch as I had my first kiss on the
swing

Then one day, I grew up and went off to college
to fill my head full of much needed knowladge
So mama, with a smile, put you in my box in the attic next to Billy's

While you took your four much needed years of rest
I took a shot at the world and did my best

I fell in love and got married
the first real guy that meant more to me than you
Days turned into months and slowly I forgot about you

But tonight as Tyler and I were setting up the crib
I remembered you
So now you'll have another baby to grow up with
