YWP Week 7: Eavesdropping stories

Weirdos in school
By Megan Pratt
Rochester School, Grade 10
(fiction)

“There are weirdoes everywhere” that’s what she said one day in the classroom. I didn’t know what she was talking about so I leaned in closer. Then I heard Kim say to Daphne “Anything that does not smell right, don’t put it in your mouth.” All I could do was laugh. Then they knew I was listening but I ran away hoping they would not notice.

A while after, I asked the teacher if I could go to the bathroom. When I started walking toward the bathroom I heard them talking again so I just stood outside and listened once again. “Dude, Kim will you hurry up we need to get back to class” said Daphne. When I heard them coming I ran down the stairs to my locker.

All I could think of was that this would be a great story for the school newspaper. These two girls were the snobs of our school. I had to find out what they had been talking about. I decided I would follow them around for the day. I needed a good, juicy story to fill the newspaper this week. I knew I could get it from them. The bell rang. Perfect! It is lunch time, and I could sit next to their table.

I put my tray down at a table by myself. They had salads in front of them. I took a bite of my burger and leaned in to listen. “Ha. Ha. Ha! I told Jasmine English her shirt looked really cute on her,” Kim chortled through her Diet Coke. “Think I was telling her the truth? NOT!! She’ll probably wear it all the time now. Hee hee hee.”

After hearing this, I decided to expose them for the mean girls that they are. I unobtrusively took my cell phone out of my purse and turned it on to record all of their horrible thoughts, and words about their and my classmates.

Once I was done following them around the school, I decided to plug in my cell phone to the computer to put it on a website. I walked around and gave everyone a piece of paper telling them to go to this website so that they could see how horrible these girls are.

After everyone went to this website people were talking about the girls and so they were getting a little bit worried about what was said. So they went to the website and were really ticked off about it. At the same time they were very conscious about what they say now.

Is the first piece seriously written by a FOURTH grader?? It's hilarious!

Yes.

Yes,
Izzy is in fourth grade. And I agree; it is a hilarious piece.
