This Is My Move

Everyone’s broken their own right wings
& we go ‘round pretendin’ impossible things
like world peace & true love someday being ours
& a life independent of motorized cars.
There’s more to correction than politically said.
When you throw ‘side the colors, we’re all blue & red
& it may be my fault that you challenge my views
but we’re all the law’s actors & you’ve stolen my cues.
I’m not searching for conflict, not hunting for kills,
not breaking down walls to pretend I can fill
the holes that you leave in your frail arguments.
If you need consolation, I’ll say it again.
There’s more to correction than politically said.
When you throw ‘side the colors, we’re all blue & red
& it may be my fault that you challenge my views
but we’re all the law’s actors & you’ve stolen my cues.
Generalize personality through affiliation;
shaking heads & laughter fall through negotiations.
I’m greater than a word, there’s more to me than that.
I’m no politician with pins & a cravat.
There’s more to perfection than politically said.
When you throw ‘side the colors, we’re all blue & red.
It may not be my fault that you attack my views
but I am just an actor & you’ve burned up my cues.

Neon...
This was such a fresh, topical poem. Nice rhythm, and so true... For someone as old as the hills like me, it is distressing how political discourse has become so fraught with anger and stereotypes and yelling. Is it because we are growing less informed?
This is the only line that threw me a bit:
There’s more to correction than politically said.
cheers and many thanks.

If misinformation is the cause, those suffering from the most severe cases are also those most unwilling to admit it.
Now, about the line... Is it the rhythm or the meaning that threw you? [If it's the meaning, I was toying with the concept of the term "politically correct." I don't know how well that actually worked, though.]

More like an Ani Difranco overdose, but, eh.
