Narrative Writing Workshops

UPDATE: The Hearty Half-Dozen had a grand time at Erik's in-person workshop. For those who missed it, so sorry. For those who said they were going to come and didn't, sorry you couldn't let us know.

NOTE: These workshops continue online in the next weeks and several months in the Narrative Writing Group.
IF YOU ARE COMING PLEASE PUT YOUR NAME IN COMMENTS BELOW. THANKS-gg

Some of you may be familiar with his workshops -- through the Champlain College Young Vermont Writer's Conference -- and know how much fun they are and how much you'll learn. Erik will also talk about his own writing and some of his books. SIGN up by IN COMMENT SECTION BELOW; also email Erik and/or gg
There will be online follow up by Erik on this site.

Young Writers Project is excited to announce a series of workshops -- in person and online -- over the next few months that will allow you to engage directly with professional writers. This is the first of what we believe will be a long-running series that we think will help you find your writing bliss.

We are beginning with Narrative Writing -- nonfiction and fiction -- in the month of March. The dates note a workshop at Young Writers Project that will then kick-off a several week connection online on this site. We are doing both in hopes that those who can't make the workshop can still participate online. (We will be posting segments of the workshops as video after they occur.) You MUST formally sign up for these by emailing me -- gg -- well ahead of time. Thanks.

March 20 -- 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at YWP's Champlain Mill headquarters
Erik Esckilsen is the author of three novels for young readers, The Outside Groove (2006), Offsides (2004), and The Last Mall Rat (2003). His writing often draws on experiences he enjoyed (or didn’t) as a teenager growing up in South Burlington, Vermont — selling shoes at the local mall, playing high school soccer, driving recklessly, and hanging out and doing nothing much by rivers, ponds, and lakes. In his (many) post-teen years, he has driven a cab, played guitar in bands, taught college writing, and worked as a journalist. Details of Erik's workshop will be coming soon.

Many thanks to the Vermont Humanities Council for making this series possible.

Out across cities I see buildings burn into piles-
and watch the world in wonder, as mountains turn into tiles-
and trees losing their leaves and their faces becoming tired.
I wish I could discover something
