Earth and Sky

Mater Christi, Grade 4

The sky
is made for light things
the ground
for heavy
The sky carries
swift winds
and birds
with feathered wings
and golden or silver light
that dances down
to the earth below

The land carries
slow-moving elephants
and two-legged people
It carries
green plants and blue water

Without the land there would be no sky
Without the sky there would be no land
