This photo is by Jessica Tardie, a 12th grader at Essex High School. Here's what Jess had to say about her photo:

"Emotion creates strong art, and through my photographs I hoped to capture strong emotional pain in different situations. In my photographs, I concentrated on the placement of my model and how she interacted with her surroundings. By using the rule of thirds and placing the model near the edge of the photograph the background adds more meaning to the photograph. Also, by using a large depth of field the small details of the image are captured to help give more distinction to the situation. Using the placement and depth of field I tried to create strong photographs depicting emotional pain."
