New York City

I was ten when I first visited New York City. It was September I do believe, and my mother and I took a bus trip into the city with her work. I didn’t really travel much, besides when I visited relatives, so I was quite excited. We gathered at the bus around five in the morning, but I was too frenzied to be tired. Once the whole crew boarded up, we started off on the adventure. The ride was about four and a half hours, but it seemed like an eternity. When we started getting close, we reached an urban looking area, and I got extremely jumpy. I had seen so many pictures and dreamt of coming to this beautiful city my whole life, and now the dream was coming true. I saw a sign up ahead that said “Lincoln Tunnel”. We then entered a black hole that seemed to last forever. Little yellow lights zoomed by, and then finally we saw daylight up ahead. We were now in Manhattan. Enormous buildings surrounded the streets with gigantic ads on them. The people on the bus started pressing their faces against their windows and pointing with glee at the amazing sights. My mother informed me the best was yet to come. I couldn’t imagine anything better! The bus driver finally parked, and we were let loose to roam the city. We wandered around Times Square for a while and I was flabbergasted at the sights. I now understood what my mother was talking about. The flashing lights, and bright signs were amazing compared to the place were I had lived my whole life. And the people! There were people of every ethnicity, race, religion, speaking all sorts of languages that I couldn’t understand. It was finally time to go see the show, so we waited in line to get in our seats for “The Lion King”. It was truly incredible. The dancing and singing was spectacular, and the costumes had such vibrant color and creativity put into them.
Sadly, after the show we only got to walk around for a little while longer, then we had to meet up with the bus to head home. All in all, it was a thrilling trip, and the memories will last me a lifetime.
