14. Procrastination. If you had more time, you’d be able to put it off longer. What do you put off to the last moment? Why? Tell a story about how you just barely got something done in time – or didn’t.

I Feel Alive

We are packed like cargo
Behind the sticky yellow line
We know we can't go
Inside the building
"Crammed" they said.
Parts of the crowd wilt away
But I stand there
Waiting

(I take a shot, pocket my phone)

The hair on the back of my neck is on end
I feel their anticipation
Their fear
Happiness
Support
We are team players
Whether we know it or not
Out there
In the slushy sidewalk

(BOO! AWAY!
John Edwards isn't here today!)

I thought speakers was all we would get
But he comes out
Entourage and all
Either he's really nice or he's a suck-up
But there he is!

(I can't believe he's just feet away)

I realize what a big deal this is
His presence doesn't just mean another speech
It could mean THE speech
To snare us in his trap
Or
Maybe
Unite us together with his dream

(Is this really happening?)

His words are like lightning
His voice rises and booms
CRACK!
It shocks us awake
The static is still running in my head
But I can understand the rhyme
The reason
Even from afar his aura pierces his audience
It's enough to set the spark
Spread the wildfire

(I've never felt this way before)

I don't know half of these people
Who are they?
Where do they come from?
Do any of them feel the way I do?
IMPASSIONED?

(AWESOME! GO OBAMA!)

We might have lost the cushy seats inside
But we still won in the end

I almost shook his hand...
But no handshake...
No, Mister Security Guard, I won't argue with you:

His words were more than enough anyway
I'm alive now.
