I can't really remember the authors that well, but I know Cell is by Stephen King. If you lived in a hole your entire life, you wouldn't know who the author of His dark materials is.

Eragon/Eldest (again, disregard the movie)

His dark materials was awesome, but the movie didn't follow (it WAS good) as much as i'd like
the abarat books scare me cause of the freaky flip it over and it's still says Abarat thing

The one after New Moon is Eclipse.
I agree with Through the Looking Glass, but don't bother with the sequel.
Also: most of Scott Westerfeld's work and almost anything ever written by Tamora Pierce.

I like her Circle of Magic series. Though, I haven't read "The Will of the Empress" I really want to.
I also completely forgot about the Harry Potter series. My forgetfullness.

I'm reading the Secret Life of Bees and it is amazing so far.

Oh! I loved the Secret Life of Bees! Also, if you're into the "lovish" stories, I just read a couple, so pretty much anything by Sarah Dessen fits that category. You just have to spread them out... can't have too much in a short amount of time...

Caleb Carr has written two exceptionally good books called "The Alienist" and "Angel of Darkness".
