Remember the Words "I Love You"

Hartford High School, Grade 9

Remember the first snow
The warmth of being inside
While its pouring out
Remember that day
They smiled your way
And your heart exploded
The long talks with whomever
Sneaking out of class
And seeing you’re not the only one
Laughing so hard
You can’t think of stopping
Feeling happy starring
At that exotic painting
That amazing sunset
The way they touched you
Just then
Remember the words
“I love you”
Not coming from
Your parents
Remember dancing
In front of the picture window
Smelling mowed grass
Finishing that book, satisfied
Remember the tears you cried
Because they were gone
And not coming back
Remember the hurt you felt
When you saw that hole
That showed the towers were gone
Do you know
Not everyone’s got it this good
And everyone should
Remember the words
“I love you”
