14. Procrastination. If you had more time, you’d be able to put it off longer. What do you put off to the last moment? Why? Tell a story about how you just barely got something done in time – or didn’t.
Alternate: Splat! Use that word in a story or a poem.

Pride

The beginning of a large project,

when ambitions abound, like fire works on a clear night.
At first there is nothing but a tiny notion,
but soon the idea blossoms into maturity.
It will soon fade, but before it is gone it will be replaced by another.

Now research and planning commences,
followed shortly by materials acquisition.
This phase, although seemingly important,
isn’t really.

Finally it’s time to work.
What has started as a tiny way to pass the time,
has grown into a gigantic conglomeration,
utilizing resources at an exponential rate.

More money, time, sweat, blood or ideas than the builder cares to count.
This is his project though,
and the more it takes shape,
the more persistently he persues it.

Finally it is time for the unveiling,
this project being complete.
Many will call it a waste, a shame, an obscenity.
But the creator knows why he built it, defying all outside logic in the process,

And that reason is pride.
