14. Procrastination. If you had more time, you’d be able to put it off longer. What do you put off to the last moment? Why? Tell a story about how you just barely got something done in time – or didn’t.
Alternate: Splat! Use that word in a story or a poem.

My Trip to Buke Sure East

“Are we almost there!?” I yelled. “I have a stomach ache! It hurts! When will we get there?”
“We are almost there,” my mom said. Then she went back to her conversation with my dad.
“Elspeth move over!” I cried.
“No!”
“Mom, Elspeth won’t move!” She ignored me.
Finally we were at Burke Sure East. We went into the lodge to get ready to ski. I sat for awhile so my stomach could calm down.
“Mom, will you ski with me?” I asked
“Sure.” She replied. Ben was skiing with Jacob and my dad. Elspeth was skiing with her friend she found at the lodge. So I went with my mom.
As soon as we got to the top of the mountain, we skied down. The snow was fluffy and thick. I could barely see my skis. About half way down the mountain, both of my skis twisted and… BANG!!!! I fell. My skis went flying through the air, along with my poles. It was like being thrown on the ground by somebody much bigger and stronger than me. The snow slid down the back of my shirt. Everything went flying. A guy stopped to help us. The ski patrol came to help me down the mountain on a sled. I had a blanket over me and my eyes were closed. The next time I opened my eyes my sister hovered over me. Her eyes were wide and cold as she stood there watching the sled go.
At the hospital, they took a lot of x-rays to see what had happened to me. Later that I found out I had broke my leg.
Over the next couple of days I got lots of treats and gifts. I also had to learn how to use crutches. It hurt and I got a lot of attention. I couldn’t ski for a while after that. Every thing happens for a reason and this taught me that I had to be aware of what is a head of you.
