Dog

By Kiley Pratt
Bridge School, Grade 6

Running, Running, always running
Beside man for one hundred thousand years
From club to sword to gun
From wolf to dog
But it does not matter to you
As long as you have food
And a warm bed
And a human to love
Then you are happy
And he is happy
And you are both happy
As you walk together for one hundred thousand years

Lost and Found

“Rebecca it’s time to come inside for dinner,” Ma hollered from the kitchen.

Junior High Rocks

Alice woke up to the sound of her dogs barking. She took a shower, got dressed, and came down to eat breakfast. “Are you excited about the last day of school?” asked Penny, her mother. Alice replied, ”I can’t wait until summer starts!” Alice finished eating and getting herself together. She climbed on the bus saying, “this will be the best summer ever!” School was a blast. The students got to play all day and then later prepare for their graduation from Rose Elementary. That night Alice and her family went out to the local Applebee’s to celebrate. Alice decided that she was going to work hard this summer, but not too hard. She had been placed in advanced math and French. The next couple of days were spent cleaning out her spaces of this past year’s school supplies and buying her workbooks for the summer. She got right to work, and it only took her two weeks to complete both. The family went on their regular vacation to Cape Cod during the last week of June.
