Teera Paye

the day that changed my life

“ Hey, Is Teera There?”
“ May I ask who is calling?”
“It is her boyfriend, Patrick.”
“ Hold on please.”
While Teera’s mom went to get her, I got my skis and my ski boots ready for the trip.
“Hey, Patrick. What’s up?”
“ Nothing much, just wanted to know if you still wanted to go on that ski trip to chuckle berry hill?”

Papa

When I am restless, pain comes to me.
I think of you.
I think of your death.
I see your face and all the happiness you brought.
I hear your voice say goodbye everyday
before I went to school.
How our midnight talks would last til' dawn.
You gave me confidence, strength,knowledge,
and happiness.
You always told me to try again and again
when I got shut down.

Find me

Find me.
Follow your past.
Follow your old love.
Find me.
Follow the blood as
black as coal.
Find me.
Ask a friend.
Ask yourself.
Will you let your old love die?
I know you.
I know your heart.
Do you know me?
Do you know my heart?

Love's ways

Love is at the door.
Love knocks and comes in.
Love is happy,strong, and wild
Just the way it always is.

Love stays awhile,
Then loses intrest and leaves.
Love leaves me on the floor
Expecting it to come no more.

Then love returns, but I refuse.
It tries harder and harder to come
back to my arms.
Finally I cave in and let love stay.
Love always tries these ways.

The Girl

The Girl

By Teera Paye
Oxbow High School, Grade 8

Here eyes were black like coal.
Her skin was white like fresh snow.
Where did she come from?
Why exactly is she here?
How did she get here anyway?
The door is locked.
I am the only one with the key.
The window?
No way!
It is two stories up.
She couldn’t have climbed up.
She comes toward me.
I back away.

Alley Cat

I release my feline side.
I want to go for the ride.
What do I have to do for love?
Is hope really a white dove?
I take my whip and punish the bad.
It doesn’t make me sad.
The deserve what punishments they get.
It is the best and worst bet.
They try to get their way.
I wont let them stay.
They need to go away.
They do not understand my powers.

The trunk in my attic

I am in my Vermont house
I walk up the winding stairs.
They coil like a snake ready to strike.
I come to the attic.
It is as dirty as the earth’s floor.
All that is there is a trunk.
The trunks side is brown like the bark on a tree.
The top is blue like the sea.
I open it and I am amazed at what is inside.
There are old things.

When I Listen In

By Teera Paye
Oxbow High School, Grade 8

“ What are you doing?”
“What do you mean?”
“I can’t stop talking about the game.”
“I hate you.”
“Why?”
“I love you.”
“I love you too, baby.”
A thousand things float off their tongues
when a person speaks. Sometimes it hurts
when you say things, but imagine what would

listening in

" i hate you"
"why do you hate me?"
"what are you doing?"
"whens the game?"
"what are you doing?"
"this is so dumb"
" this is Horse shit."
"why are you listening in on us?"
"this is a school assignment."
