Unspoken

Swirling, terrifying,
Confusion weighting down,
No one seems happy,
Unspoken.

Do I dare disturb the Universe?
Do I dare stand up for myself?
Thoughts,
Unspoken.

Assignments,
Bullying, scared
Sweaty palms,
Unspoken.

Secret,
Not acknowledged,
Reeking havoc,
Unspoken.

Mind games,
Teasing, taunting
Creating doubt,
Unspoken.

Defying,
Worlds fallen,
Eyes betraying,
Unspoken.

Trinity,
Schoolboys,
The Vigils,
Unspoken.

The Door.

Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock. It almost seems as if the more i look at it, the slower its going to go. This is the worst part. Its ten minutes before the bell and i just can't take my eyes of its face. Its thin needle body glides around its surface, slower and slower and slower until it appears time must have stopped. I start coming back into reality, escaping my mid day dream and the zoning out on the clock just in time to notice everyone around totally silent and staring right at me. The teacher says, “well Mr. Morse, what's the answer?” Oh shoot, i did it again. I have this thing with loosing all interaction with the physical world and just sort of clocking into this place in my mind were my eyes go blank and my thoughts light up. This time i had missed a question being asked right before i clocked back into reality.

Junior High Rocks

Alice woke up to the sound of her dogs barking. She took a shower, got dressed, and came down to eat breakfast. “Are you excited about the last day of school?” asked Penny, her mother. Alice replied, ”I can’t wait until summer starts!” Alice finished eating and getting herself together. She climbed on the bus saying, “this will be the best summer ever!” School was a blast. The students got to play all day and then later prepare for their graduation from Rose Elementary. That night Alice and her family went out to the local Applebee’s to celebrate. Alice decided that she was going to work hard this summer, but not too hard. She had been placed in advanced math and French. The next couple of days were spent cleaning out her spaces of this past year’s school supplies and buying her workbooks for the summer. She got right to work, and it only took her two weeks to complete both. The family went on their regular vacation to Cape Cod during the last week of June.

Douchicus: A Dialogue

(I'm sure you all have this experience. School hits you, your writing ideas evaporate, and if they don't your time to bring them to life does. This has happened to me. Thus, I am reduced to putting my school assignments up for comments. This is one such school assignment. We had to write a Socratic dialogue for Ancient Cultures. I realize the references to WWII European dictators is not something the Ancient Greeks had at their disposal, but my teacher said it was ok for me to use modern references. I've detained you long enough, here it is:)

Soc: Douchicus! Fancy seeing you out and about so early in the morning. Just what are you up to at this earliest of hours.

Dou: Why, Socrates, I am on a mission to save the good people of this city from being cast into the lake of fire.

Soc: And just why would our citizens be so unfortunate as to suffer this rather unpleasant event?

Dou: Because, noble Socrates, they are evil people and will be punished by God for that.

One For The Teachers

I went back to school today
To drop off my English homework
The halls were waxed
And everything smelled like paint
Chairs and desks and computers
Were stacked in front of lockers
Walking past the offices
Social Studies
Language
English
Science
Math
Which should've been familiar
But they were all so empty
It was like walking around town
On Christmas with my best friend
Everything was the same as always
But just empty
No music blasting in the English wing
No absurd laughing from the Language office
No Social Studies teachers yelling down the hall
No Science teachers wheeling things around
No Math teachers eating cake
The English ladies aren't clique-ing down the halls
As they gossip to each other
The Math and Social Studies coaches
Aren't bickering with each other
The Language teachers aren't
Bidding everyone they meet "Good morning"
It's just an lifeless pit of despair
And I realize
I don't miss the students
I miss the teachers

Homework.

I've finally completed part of my AP English homework. Now, only two books to read and summarize!

Why don't I feel happier? Ha ha.

Do you like school?

Out to lunch

I have these french verbs
'dancing round in my head
they make me so dizzy
I fall on my bed.

They execute steps
I know nothing about
Then they twirl 'cross the floor
But i don't know the route.

I step on their toes
and receive icy stares
I slide them sweet smiles
But i get tight-lipped stares.

The dance calls for a twirl
But they spin me around
'Til my head is a tail
and my feet leave the ground.

The world keeps on spinning
Around and Around
My head's spinning too
But it's homeward bound

As I lose all my balance
And I fall to the ground
My plastered on smile
Turns into a frown

What right have these callous
and blue nosed verbs
Past tense, conditional
and Imparfait
Have to waltz through my mind
while sipping their brews
when I was about
to have such a nice day?

To get rid of these snobs
while they pose with their punch,
I hang up a sign that says
Quote, "out to lunch"

Anywhere than here

i can't take it
can't take it anymore
the monotony
of everyday
where nothing
nothing happens

the same bland people
telling the same jokes
I hate them, I think.

the same stupid school
leaves me feeling
like an idiot
even though I know it's everyone else

I'm going crazy, I think.
it's hard
I can't do it

and if I can't make it
here
than what says I can
anywhere else?

I'm scared
scared that I'll amount
only to nothing
become a nothing
like most people here
who think they're something
but they're nothing
those stupid
horrible
nothings
I don't wanna be a
nothing.

i need to get out
get out
get out of this place

but will they let me leave?
could I even leave?

it's just pointless
so why should I care anymore?

I know
that I'm stupid
and that I couldn't survive
anywhere else
but I'd rather be anywhere
anywhere than here.

Where's That School?

So tell me,
Where’s that school where people
Randomly
Brake into songs?
Where is that school where
All of the stereotypes
Get along
Better than best friends,
And
Everything
Turns out ok
In the end,
And everyone’s dreams come true?
Where is that school?
Because,
I kind of want to go…
It would be a wonderful break
From reality.

School?

My school is different from other schools. It's in a barn at Shelburne Farms. You say it's fun and I say it's fun. We have jobs. One of them is "Farm Chores." It is quite fun. We get to feed the animals that the other farmers do not have time to do.

My Deer

There is an animal raging inside of me. It is a full of rage and anguish. It is a lion or a bull, fierce and menacing.
No, it is a deer.

Waiting

Summer is finally here,
We wait for it all year long,
Well remember everything,
Even the music gong,
Well miss our teachers and our friends,
Even the bullies,
Even Mrs. Tully,
We wait and wait all summer long,
And school is back again,
When we go back everything is changed,
Even the classroom is rearranged,
New students are here,
All so cool,
Shhhhhhh,
I’ve got work to do.
