Green Home

Green Home
I sit down in the tall chair in front of me. “So,” she asks, “Tell me about Vermont.” My aunt’s Texas drawl pulls out the last word like an old stubborn cow.
“Well, it’s green.” I offer. My eyes dart to the window and I can’t help but notice the dead yellow of the south.
“Oh, I see.” She purses her lips until they are white, “So, nothing else, just green?” She sounds disappointed. My eyes glance nervously from unfamiliar object to unfamiliar object. The color, the idea, the word green describes my home.

Another poem about "Green"

Here is another great poem about the color 'green.' The words here tell me a story and I can sense the feelings in the poetry.

GREEN
By Matt Vinci

Green is a special color.
When I see green, I can almost smell the green grass.
I can see the reflection of the green grass in my swimming pool.
It seems that every day that I look at the green grass,
it is growing.

When I go out for a nice car ride,
I can see all the great, green mountains.
of Vermont.

Green is a special color.
We even have holidays that involve green.
St. Patrick’s Day is full ‘o green.
People walk around with green beads everywhere.

Then there is Christmas.
When we get to the tree-farm, I can see
the great, green trees.
Me and Mom find the perfect tree,
making sure that the tree is
just right in its color and its size.
Then we bring it home
and we put all the sparkling red and green lights up
until it shines so bright!

Green is a special color to me.
I love green.
It is my favorite color, and
I hope that my poem about green
makes green
everybody else’s
favorite color.

An entry about the color 'Green'

Here is a great poem by one of my students. The imagery of the scenes really evoke the color green to me.

Vermont is Green
By Jacob Trahan

The color green
Reminds me of
Rolling pastures
Through the Green Mountains.
So dazzling and gorgeous,
Bringing to mind
My soul and
Making my heart soar.
As green as the grass is, though,
There’s always something greener
On the other side
Of the fence of life
That draws consideration to how much I adore
The lovely charm of Vermont
And its people.

Green

Green is the color of the sun catcher in my window.
Green is the color of the prickly cactus that sits on my dresser.
Green is the color of my favorite shirt.
Green is the color of my comfy sweatshirt.
Green is the color of my soft, warm quilt.
Green is the color of the United States on my map, hanging on my wall.
Green is the color of the sticky pine needles that fall in the yard.
Green is the color of the fresh, dewy grass that the cows munch on.
Green is the color of St. Patrick’s Day, the day after my birthday.
Green is the color of ency.
Green is the color your face turns when you get sick.
Green is the color of the Green Mountains.
I love green.

Sunlight streamed through the gaps between the crinkled branches. The hills overflowed with green grass swaying with serenity. A small girl with tear-stained cheeks sprawled on her back in the quiet shade the dying willow provided with its dark emerald leaves.

April laid there more often then not. The soft grass perfectly cushioned her tired back and left tiny smears on her flowy shirt. In the shade of the dilapidated tree, she was more than safe. She was alone.

From all those times when there was no way to spill out all the wrongness, she could escape. From the times she opened her mouth wide and screamed silently so that no one would scare, she could be gone. From every difference, worry, frustration in her life, she could break free.

The tree and the hills and the grass couldn’t heal her issues. Even if they could, April herself would not be healed. But for then, it was enough for her to lay and feel the green.

Green

It rolls around in my purse
I have to shuffle through the loose change,
Through my books
My cell phone
My lip gloss
My CD player
My college paperwork—
(Jeesh, how much crud do I have in here?)
To find the goods:
The wad of Green.

I try to smile,
But I know
It’ll be all gone after
My jacked up college tuition sucks it into the void.

But for now…
Shopping spree anyone?

Green

On a winter’s day, I laid on my back in the snow
Chilled to the bone
Buried, almost, in frozen fluff
Staring up at the all-encompassing blue sky
The white clouds floating by
And I wonder,
Where’s the green?
My beloved green
Green grass
That sheltering canopy of leaves
And the warm heat of summer
The caress of the the blades of grass
Against my bare arms as I dream

Green

Green is like the key to the world.
With green we have wonderful days when the morning sun is shining and you're having a picnic on the luscious, green grass.
We have some green vegetables and apparently green vegetables are good for you.
We have nice green mountains.
We also have green plants.
We have green seaweed which is also used for sushi.

What Does This Green Mean?

Whatever does this color mean?
Is it just the shade of a yummy bean?
Or perhaps a garden, oh so serene.
Is it the color of envy for any queen?
The color of the shirt lent by Arlene,
The cover of your favorite magazine,
A who-knows-what kind of jelly bean,
The color of an unripe tangerine,
A horrible, terrible, cruel vaccine,
A theme for your birthday of seventeen,

The Green Submarine

.
.
.
The green
Submarine
Diving through
The warm, spring
Memories
Of my mind.
Fueled by leafy kale,
And my own envy,
It putters around
The Green Mountains.
A lean, green,
Puttering machine,
It’s only a small
Pigmented
Figment
Of this imaginative
Daydream.

Green life

Kelly Davis
The snow is melting
All life becomes new again
Start of beginning

Green

Green reminds me of spring
Which brings me a feeling of hope that
What soon to be abolished
Are the rough winter storms
And how beautiful spring days
Are soon to be the norm
Flowers of all different colors will be seen
Nature will paint images that are picturesque
Cold, wintry days will be experienced less and less
It’ll be a time when you no longer freeze

The Beginning

Green is
What I miss.
Green is
A friend
I’ve lost touch with,
Who has
Vacated the premises
For the time being.
The forsaken world
Green left behind
Is colder and less cheerful
Than before.
Green,
I miss you.

Green is
The hope that we
Lose
When the world turns
Black.
When white
Melts away
And grey gloom
Subsides,
Green will
Knock at my door.
Despite his absence

The Simpest Answer

When green is the grass,
My thoughts turn to spring,
And everything else,
This year will bring,

When summer comes round,
And suns burning hot,
I can’t help but think,
It’s my fault we fought,

And then there is fall,
When we’re back in school,
And every rich person,
Is closing their pool,

Then my thoughts wander,
To winter and ice,
When snow covers the ground,

Green

Green is a symbol of many things. In fact, it’s quite fascinating, how many things it represents in different scenarios. It is the color of envy- when you covet something owned by some one else, whether it be materialistic, a reputation, a relationship. It is the color of sickness, as well. It seems as if it has a rather unpleasant connotation associated with it.

Green grass

Green Grass

Green Grass,
Trees and grass,
Swaying in the breeze,

Green Grass,
Me sprinting fast,
I fall-
Stains on my knees,

Green Grass,
Flowers in a glass,
Looking like mini trees,

Green Grass,
Thinking about the past,
As I watch the leaves,
(Dance in the breeze),

Green Grass,
In the pool at last,
And now I’m at ease

Green

Green is the grass as smooth as glass
Green is pretty but gives no pity
Sometimes Green is like a bean
That grows very long and lean
Sometimes green is the color of a mountain
It can be as beautiful as a fountain
Green is the trees that grow so tall
Amazing when they turn in the fall
People may think that Green is cheesy
But being Green is not that easy
