18. Faking it

Little Show

Just a flash of those pearly whites,
They're everything you need to be alright,
No one will know,
It will never show,
It's just a little show

Faking It

Faking it is fun
It might get you in trouble
If you say you didn't
But you did
The trouble's gonna double.

If you tell the truth
Less trouble will occur
So you don't end up in the trouble booth.

Faking It

Faking It,
Sucks;
Get caught in a lie,
Something that’s not;
Never get out,
More work than I thought,
Should have just done it,
But I didn’t,
I put it off,
And now I regret it.

Fake

Tell me once, Tell me twice
I will never believe your sham
The room may be white, but your words are tainted
Go on with your lies and you will be painted
Why to fake?
Fame or fortune
Neither will gain respect
Empty words are all I can expect
Not yet can I trust your account
maybe some day when you have some clout.

Faking It

Here he stands,
The conquereing hero,
Triumphant in his victory,
Returns to his home town,
Practically exhaling confidence.
The rewards;
Treasure, metallic in sight touch and taste.
Wine, Women, Song.
He is exalted.
A dark stillness enters the atmosphere,
And citizens once free to rejoice,
Instead return to fear and sorrow.
Their Champion, is not.

Faking It

Faking It
By Russell McCumber

Why fake it?
To tell them what they want to hear
or to tell yourself what you want to hear?
Is it to escape punishment
or to create self-delusion?
Will it save you now
but hurt you later?
Why fake it,
because what you say doesn’t mean a thing
If you aren’t who you say you are.

Late Night

.
.
.
Where were you?
I…ummm…
You know you weren’t supposed to go anywhere else,
I told you before you left!
I’m sorry, but my ears were broken,
Faulty manufacturing,
Not my fault.
Even then, your curfew is eleven O’clock!
It couldn’t be helped, Mom!
It’s not my fault that
My friend’s brother’s cousin
Was terminally ill
With numerous paper induced lacerations.

Faking It

Everyone does it-
It’s a fact of life.
Being truthful is a difficult trait to have,
Sometimes it is just easier to lie…

Fake It

Fake it.
Just can’t take it.
Can’t escape it.
Losing time
Can’t make it.
Just gotta fake it.

Faking It

Being something your not is not you
Be you
Not something that’s not

Faking it

Faking it has never been hard
People do it all the time
Tis as easy as flipping a card
Or squeezing a lime

Faking It

All of these silly lies
They are consuming my soul
I can’t fake it now

Faking It

All athletes that use steroids are just faking they're good. They can’t hit a home run. They can’t throw a football without steroids. All sports should ban the player for life and take them out of the Hall of Fame if they got in. There is no hard work there, just faking it. Barry Bonds did not fake it well. All of a sudden he was huge and hitting all those home runs.

Faking It

The one thing that I hate is when somebody says that they are really good at something, but they are really actually bad beyond belief. I know of a couple of people who are like that, though maybe not quite as bad as was stated. These people are just posers, they are faking it, so it probably shouldn’t matter a whole lot. Though it most likely shouldn’t, it does.

Faking It

I had to fake it once. Pretend I was something I’m not. Hide my true self. It takes a lot of hard work. Sometimes people fake things because they don’t think people will like them for who they really are. When a person fakes something, they are normally hiding the most important thing about them. The thing that makes them, them. They end up getting hurt and things just turn out wrong.

Society's Prisoner.

A social creature,
Always in the company of others.
Smiles and conversation,
Polite and in the know.
Loved,
Cherished by all.
All life's treasures at her finger tips.
What more could she ask for?
Not rich,
Not poor,
Comfortable.
The ideal.
This perfect girl,
The world in her hands,
She cries herself to sleep every night.
Night,
Her only savior.
Night is sanctuary,
Freedom.

Fake it

Fake it,
You can’t escape it
You try to run and hide
The guilt you try to abide
Get it finished, get it done
The stress weighs a ton
Hurry now, losing time
As I hear the school bell chime
To late now, got to fake it
You want to run away, but you just sit
Time is up, you don’t want to commit
Add a little here,
A little there
You don’t care where
Turn it in

Faking it

Faking It

Please don’t fake it
Don’t tell lies
When you forge the truth,
It ruins lives

Lying to a friend
Is as bad as it gets
You’ll loose them all
And get some bad threats

Asking you to leave
Telling you to get out the door
Never to come back
Or hang out anymore

Pulling the wool
Over someone’s eyes
Will ultimately lead
To your demise

don't fake

It isn’t a good thing to be clever at faking because that means you’re a good liar. Lying is never good because it can get you in trouble.

Faking It

By Jessy Davenport
Woodstock Union High School, Grade 10

It's human nature to lie and deceive
If you do it once you will repeat
There is not one human you will ever meet
That never was a little too discreet
It’s so easy and fun
You’ll get a thrill each time it’s done
Even if you held the smoking gun
You will tell them you’re not the one*
Its pretty simple you see

The Fake Cake

I never thought
I could be caught
I had to bake
A tasty cake
But it was fake
So i was throuwn in the lake
And got bit by a snake

Oh No!!

Lions, Bears, Turkeys, and Elves

A little white lie
Couldn’t hurt a fly
Sure, it can get worse
But no one’s gonna die.

Is anyone actually real?
We all cover how we feel
Hidden behind a fake wall
Never getting the real deal.

Who must we hid from, ourselves?
Lions, bears, turkeys, and elves.

Oh no!

Delicious Apple Pie … NOT

Do you want some of my special apple pie?
Of course! *not*
*Ok, you can take a bite, I know you can
In it goes
Ughhh!!!
So gross
Don’t puke
Please don’t puke
Ok, down it goes
Whew!
Oh great, 10 more bights to go.
Blah
Remember, smile to Aunt May*
Its great Aunt May!
*Why do I have to eat this every Christmas?*

The Wisdom of a Human

People
Are
Idiotic.
You, He, She, It, We, Yall, They-
Are oblivious.
You think you know me.
He thinks he sees everything I am.
She has know me since we were born, but really she blind to my soul.
It may be the clarinet I use to play my heart, but what does it know of my hardship, my fallen kin and woes?

Her Tomorrow

She gazes out of her morning window
Into a distant happiness;
The happiness that she pretended was her own.
The snow outside glistened like the light her family thought she was.
Maybe she was,
But she isn’t anymore.
Outside, they see beauty and promise;
But the inside she hides behind her unbreakable walls.
The inside is the pain, and the fear that no one else knows.

Faking It

I get up, but I fall down again,
My shoulder screaming,
My heart is beating,
Why now? Why this day?
The only day I have with him,
To show off and let him know I’m good,
I must stay strong, pretend I’m fine.
“Are you alright?” he persists,
So I said yes, that’s not hurting him!
I try to ski, I try smile,
Although my lips quiver, rather than rise,

Shovel

I stand tonight
Shovel in hand
The night begins
And I start to dig
Deeper and deeper
The hole goes down
The night continues
I’m in too deep now
The hole starts to cave
It’s caving in on me
And as it falls down
I keep digging
Further into the ground
Now it’s so deep
I can’t see the top
I can’t remember
How I ended up here
Digging my own grave
But the lie has twisted

A sweet little lie

A lie
A sweet little story
A cunning move, ever so sly
There might be more, hidden deep in a quarry
But how can one little lie, on move of deceit
An escape to get away from a pressured situation
Ahhh but it is so sweet
With the tall tale, the lie and it’s creation
Maybe meant to protect one you love
Save them from the terrible truth
Bringing them up, up and above

Faking Protection

Faking Protection

By Chloe Dickinson
Woodstock Union High School, Grade 10

I study the curtain,
Its dusty red ripples hide me from their eyes.
I am the performer, the one who tells lies.
My life is a stage, but the curtain won't lift,
It hides me from the world, a place I don't fit.
A mask over my face, I cannot stay behind,
The curtain won't lift, but I part it with my mind.
