Winterwar
Submitted by Sergio on November 6, 2008 - 09:11.A cold missile explodes
near an unwary back:
time for evasive action.
Biding time for a counterattack,
the soldier lies in wait
for the
perfect
moment
to
strike…
There!
A flash of movement
a growl of savage delight
and the missile’s away.
As the artillery hits its mark
(yelps and groans ensue)
the terrain is eyed warily
anticipating tactics and strategies
a psychological chess game of wits.
Laughing quietly with a predator’s glee
the enemy’s weak point is discerned
as the sun glints off
millions of sparkling diamonds.
Victory imminent, one thought now:
he's going down.
If only all battles were fought with
frozen raindrops, as
melting ice-water
drips cold trails down a spine
and mittens
are packed with snow.

The Fair
Submitted by tamara33 on October 17, 2008 - 09:38.One time way way back when i was about 7 or 8 my mom and dad and of course me went to the fair in water bury vermont. At first we had to watch the parade witch was fun of course but what i was really waiting for was the carniville or whatsome people call it the fair. I loved the fair there aere so many rides to go on and great games to play. My favorite ride would have to be the flying trapieze. It is the swings that spin so fast roung and round. It made it so that i felt like i was flying like i did not have a care in the world.I would go on this ride like over ten times that day because it just made me feel like i could do any thing as aposed to flying witch i could do on those swings and every one knows i cant do that with out those swings. I wish i could feel like i am flying all the time. I really love going to the carniville with my family but most of all i love the flying trapeeze!

it will make it real
SHUT UP
if you let the words come out
don't!
cool it
silence

zip
slam it shut
a waterfall of words
pounding

I

tears pour out

Opening Night
Submitted by Yami_no_Tenshi on May 23, 2008 - 08:00.Last night was opening night.
Everyone was at each other's throats.
Tension was everywhere,
So thick that it clogged the air.
People were running around
Trying to finish up last minute things
Trying to scarf down a quick meal
While putting the final touches to a set,
Or yanking on a costume.
"Where did I put that make-up?"
"I can't find my tie..."
"We don't have any curtain call music?!"
"Someone set up chairs!"
"Quick! Sweep the stage!"
"Can someone help me with my zipper?"
Everything was swirling together,
Nothing made sense anymore.
But finally, finally!
The crowd started coming in,
Actors were in their places,
As were the techies.
And as we watched the lights come up,
We realized things were going to be alright.
It's Over
Submitted by sneuman on April 18, 2008 - 08:53.You go to the play, excited to see what will happen this time. It's filled with comedy, mystery, and almost every topic you can think of. Right then, at the most exciting part of tyhe story, the lights come on and it is intermission. You go up and buy cookies, cake, and a soda. You use th restroom while you can.
Buy the time you get back, you almost forget what hapened before intermission. But the lights turn off and the magic begins all over again. Before you can get hooked on it all over again, it's over.

All this

But they're not
just four shows.
We're going

All I can hear
Heart thumping
A deafening beating
Inside my head.
All I can feel
Is the stick in my hands,
Cradling the ball,
And my legs
Straining to accelerate
All I can think of
Is the net ahead.
A defender in the way,
Nothing
That would stop my
Determination.
To win.
To play.

We Are Putting on a Play.
Submitted by pineapple_babbit on October 9, 2007 - 14:38.Lines, songs, and the scripts,
The stage is covered with paint drips,
Most of the costumes have some rips,
But what can I say?
We are putting on a play.
The tension is always high,
Some are so tired, they may die,
This year there is no makeup guy,
But what can I say?
We are putting on a play.
