Global War on Terror
Submitted by parsonsp on November 13, 2008 - 14:26.Poem – Global War on Terror
I think the bombings
Like on the news
Because the people
They crash and die
I feel very sad
Very scared, mad, angry
Winterwar
Submitted by Sergio on November 6, 2008 - 09:11.A cold missile explodes
near an unwary back:
time for evasive action.
Biding time for a counterattack,
the soldier lies in wait
for the
perfect
moment
to
strike…
There!
A flash of movement
a growl of savage delight
and the missile’s away.
As the artillery hits its mark
(yelps and groans ensue)
the terrain is eyed warily
anticipating tactics and strategies
a psychological chess game of wits.
Laughing quietly with a predator’s glee
the enemy’s weak point is discerned
as the sun glints off
millions of sparkling diamonds.
Victory imminent, one thought now:
he's going down.
If only all battles were fought with
frozen raindrops, as
melting ice-water
drips cold trails down a spine
and mittens
are packed with snow.

Battle
Submitted by Yami_no_Tenshi on October 10, 2008 - 20:14.You hold me close, tightening your embrace,
Clutching me as if scared I’ll fade away.
Your breath’s at my ear, making my heart race,
Whispering that this is how we will stay.
You tell me that you will always love me,
Despite those trying to tear us apart
Together forever, that’s how we’ll be,
You’d fight without end to protect my heart.
Though I know you’d fight endlessly for this,
There is something that I need you to know,
You won’t be fighting alone for our bliss.
I’ll be there with you, battling our foe.
I will never surrender in this war
Because I know our love’s worth fighting for.

Mushrooms of Fire
Submitted by bushido on October 5, 2008 - 17:38.The explosions engulf
Mushrooms of fire pop up across the globe
Burning with the power of a thousand suns
Dropped on all beings
Ripping with unstable power
Snarling
Through all that exists
Buildings, trees, children
Nothing is spared
Metal melts
They rain down
Relentless
A river of blood
An explosion of debris
Perpetually increasing
By the end it does not matter who did it
Who launched the first one
Only that the shear destruction
Has cause so much pain
To those that did nothing

A New Story, Part 6
Submitted by Geist on March 16, 2008 - 20:23.(This is getting pretty long. 16 pages now. And I'm still getting ideas.
The piece itself has greatly improved my writing, and my entire concept of creative fiction. The freedoms that I'm allowed in the form are limited only by my imagination and my vocabulary- as are most writers- and I'm only beginning to grasp what I feel is going to be an amazing form of artistic expression.

I have a number, you have a number
Submitted by Dreamsprite on March 10, 2008 - 20:40.Numbers here, numbers there.
1
24
6,489
3
But what comes after them?
1 of me
24 cents that the gas prices have risen since last year
6,489 dead people and more in Iraq this year...
3 days until another club meeting.
What happened?
On that blinking screen I can hear
"At least five U.S. soldiers on foot patrol were killed and three others wounded in a suicide bombing Monday in Baghdad, U.S. military officials in Iraq said..."
Two and five.
Two cookies? Five raindrops on my window sill?
If only I could see them.
Seeing those people,
suffering, dying, hiding
Then those numbers wouldn't matter.
My mouth would collapse to the ground
Hundreds of corpses lie in the streets
A number.
1+1=2 4x5=20 7-3=4...
etcetera
It's just a number, some people could care less.
On the other hand, imagine the numbers...in reality
Can we grasp its infinity?

War
Submitted by hoopfairy14 on February 24, 2008 - 18:38.There is so much controversy
Of the president's stupidity
For sending poor men
To fight for something unknown
So many people don’t understand
Why soldiers are dying
At wars ugly hand
I don’t know what's going on
It's still unclear to me
I'm trying to have fun
I wish it would just be done.

Patriotism?
Submitted by imagine on January 10, 2008 - 20:36.He lies there
prostrate on the
warm, soft earth,
the grass tangling
with his hair,
thick roots
digging into his
shaken bones.
Red:
the color of his
heart splattered shirt,
sticky and
warm,
clinging to his chest.
Ruined by someone he's
never even
spoken to.
And they claim:
this is logical.
White:
the stark contrast of his drained face,

Blasts
Submitted by Usagi on January 10, 2008 - 16:22.And the sun burns down
On the hasty metal roofs.
And the dust chokes hard.
And there's nothing but the scurrying of ants
Around their shops
And the streets they know I can't keep safe.
And my hands gripping hard
The familiar edges of a once-alien barrel.
We're waiting
For what we hope won't come;
For the noise and the waves
Of dust
Billowing to turn transform us to

Epic
Submitted by Gildron on January 9, 2008 - 13:47.Morgar the great, leader of the free world charges into battle.
Sword striking sword, the flash of blades flickers everywhere in the dieing sunlight.
All seems hopeless, half the forces have fallen.
The mages, promised warriors for Morgar have abandonned their position on the field. Fleeing in fear.

World War III
Submitted by Gildron on January 8, 2008 - 11:20.World War III will be not fought man against man, but man against squirrel.
From the ground they will come, boiling up, nibbling everything they touch until there is nothing left.
Cute bushy tails, use to blind you, then to bind you down.
One squirrel to rule them all
One Nut to find them
One army to bring them all
And in the darkness, bind them.

New Story, Part 3
Submitted by Geist on January 7, 2008 - 17:41.(Back into the breach, once more, friends!
After a long hiatus, I have finally come back with more of the story of Marie, Joseph, and the Panzergrenadiers under his command in the last death throes of Hitler's Reich. However, I have an excuse for such a long time between entries.

The Sun’s War
Submitted by pineapple_babbit on November 15, 2007 - 09:57.I look out the window and see the grey.
A minute ago the sun went away.
The sun is giving the clouds a good fight;
It appears and disappears from my sight.
They seem to be playing a little game,
But the outcome always remains the same.
The sun is gone for longer and longer,
And the atmosphere is getting somber.
This isn’t fun for the sun anymore,
D-Day
Submitted by kevinwilkinson on November 6, 2007 - 13:58.I have heard about D-Day but never really understood why it was such an important day in history, and I have always been interested in WWII. Before I started I just knew it had happened as part of WWII. As I started to read about it,it and after I interviewed a veteran of the 101st Airborne DivisionD-Day it became even more excitinginteresting to research.
War
Submitted by Lena Glickman on October 11, 2007 - 10:25.Surrounded by a landscape of death
I take my last breath.
One more gulp of dirty air
before I fall into an eternal sleep.
And now one thing has become clear
nothing is fair.
War has got a hold on me
and doesn't let go.
Sqeezes each drop of life
from my limp body
and failing mind.
Pray For Me...
Submitted by emma_redden on February 13, 2007 - 11:09.hey. I am really new at this. let me know what u think!
Pray for me…
I am a child. I live in a world created for the strength of mothers, not the vulnerability of children. I have the words of a hero. I am silenced by the world. I am “only a child.”
Pray for me…
