14. Procrastination. If you had more time, you’d be able to put it off longer. What do you put off to the last moment? Why? Tell a story about how you just barely got something done in time – or didn’t.

My Life

My Life

I am from an old house on a hill
Where there’s trees and flowers
And woods four miles long.
My home is the land of the Green Mountains.

I am from a long line of Shephards and friends
And family by my side.
Together forever.

I am from a house where dinner is always at 5:30 p.m.
And “Don’t get up from the table ‘till you’re done.”
Hamburgers, chicken, potatoes
More belly-filling meals.

I am from a home where
There’s always something to do,
Games to play inside and out,
Videos or a made-up game to play.

I am from a family where we talk,
And have lots of fun;
Our rooms are filled with laughter and voices.

I am from a home where in the woods
My Grandpa had really old cars,
And now they are junk.

I am from a house when Christmas,
Halloween, and Thanksgiving
Is a time our family comes together!

What it Means to be a “Vermon’er”

I have lived in Vermont ever since I can remember. My mother was born and raised in the rumble of Massachusetts, while my dad was born and raised on a farm in the heart of Vermont. Both coming from completely different backgrounds, they settled down closer to where my father grew up. When I was born, we moved around quite a bit, but never very far. I wish I could say that I was born and raised in Vermont, but I can’t.

Vermont

Vermont is a small state, but in this state it’s always beautiful and green here. Vermont is famous for skiing, snowboarding, the bright colors of its leaves, and the tasty maple syrup.

What is one thing I would change about Vermont? One thing I would change about Vermont is that Burlington should be closer to Montpelier. We drive all the way to the very tip of the northwest of Vermont just to go shopping. That is just so unfair! Shopping malls should to the middle of Vermont, not tucked away in the tip of Vermont. Most girls love shopping, and their parents drive for an hour to Burlington and go shopping. They drive back from Burlington and that takes about an hour. You spend so much time in Burlington; you’ll just be too tired to drive another hour. I think it’s better to have Burlington closer to Montpelier. That is what I want to change about Vermont.

Time

It was daylight savings time day today -- "spring forward, fall back". I woke up at six, which was TECHNICALLY five, which makes me very angry inside. Anyway, I decided that it was far too early to get up, no matter how useful and effective this "holiday" is.

Coming Home

In the beginning, we were stuck in a new place, with a new time, with a new race. We were together. We looked around and there were no memories, we knew Africa and ourselves, but their was nothing in between. We had to love each other, we had to take care of each other, we could not walk away. We were stuck, but we were happy we were there with nothing we knew, it was a clean slate.

Weakest Link

I woke up
half past eleven.

Didn't bother to brush the chaos
from my hair

Secrets Can Be True

Love,
Sweetie,
Can you get me my purse?
There's some pills in it
In a little container that's marked "Saturday"
And I think it would be good
For me to take them
Oh no, don't worry
There's nothing wrong
It's just for my bones
My old, creaky bones
Can you hear them, child?
Rustling like the paper thin ears of a mouse,
Groaning like there's no tomorrow?

Yes, Grandma

Ghosts in the Nighttime

A great day at your friend’s house
Getting late
A long walk home
Leisurely pace, still some light
Getting darker
Walking faster
Breezy, trees swaying, bushes rustling
Was that a twig snapping?
Imagination going wild
Scared to death, will the ghosts come for me?
Running now
Little window of light
Through the door
Oh so incredibly happy
Safe at home
Time for bed
