The Haunted House

Shadows in the Night

When I was 7 years old and when my mom was making me go to bed when she finally got into bed, I saw a shadow. It was not ordinary at all. Then I heard a name and it was mine. I got up and it did it again. I was scared to death and the shadow got bigger. But then I saw my mom come in. “I guess I was seeing things in my mind,” I said. After I was asleep I went to see if my parents were asleep. They were. I checked my brother’s room and boy was it messy. Then I heard it again, it was some kind of ghost. But I knew ghosts are real, right? Well that’s another story so then I got back in bed but I could not get to sleep so I went to see whatever was going on. I know that ghost hunting is hard and will take me a long time to figure it out so I decided to get some snacks and all the things I needed like disinfectant and darts, just in case. And also a net just in case it is not a ghost. Well now I off on my big adventure.

The Dinner

One day a girl went to pick apples and she saw something, and she started to walk away. She heard feet following her so she RAN! I ran through the woods trying to get away from the ugly thing that was chasing me! I couldn't really make it out but I couldn't stop now. What should I do? It was a dead end. Then I saw a hole, just big enough for me. I squeezed in and didn't make make a sound. Feet came near, I froze and couldn't move and the feet went away. I peeped out to see if it was safe and then I heard it again. I went back in the hole and I stayed there for 2 hours, and I thought it was safe but it wasn't. OH NO! It came back!!! but I couldn't just stay there! I should fight or warn the town.

The Giant

I ran through the woods, my hair whipping my face. I was never looking back again, EVER! The horrible creature I saw was not a pretty sight. It was chasing me throughout the woods. All I could think of was that despicable face. The giant stared at me like there was nothing wrong with hideous giants landing in front of you, dropping from nowhere. I screamed. The chase was on! That huge ugly giant was lumbering after me. Every step he took made an earthquake. I knew there was no escape. I was just running because I was not going to give the creature the satisfaction of having food quickly. If he wanted foof he was going to have work for it. But, then before I knew it, I was in the giant's mouth. I couldn't bear to hear the gulp. All I will say is that pretty soon, he was one happy giant!

How to Ask Someone to the Prom: A 4th Grader's Perspective

How to Ask Someone to the Prom: a Fourth Grader's Perspective

By Jackson Macdonald
Edmunds Elementary School, Grade 4

If you want to ask someone to the prom this is how I would do it: I would invite the person I want to my house to play video games and make them think I'm going to ask them. Then I would have my best friend dress up like a girl and make it look like I was going to ask them instead. Then I would make the person I really want to ask feel like I don’t like them. They would say, ”I thought you were going to ask me."
I would say, “well if you want to go with me that bad, will you go with me?” Then my friend would throw a fit just for the effect.

WALKING TO THE MOVIES

“Hey, Jake”
“Hello, Sarah”
“So were you going to take me to the movies?”
“Oh, um yeah, sure you want to come?”
“Yeah, thanks, that’s why I’m here!”

AT THE MOVIES

“So, what are we watching Jake?”
“Oh, a Bill Nye Video. I love learning about science!”
{Muttering} “You are such a little wimp!”
“What?”
“Nothing… want popcorn?”
“Oh, I brought a tuna sandwich.”
“JAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought we were going to spend a wonderful night together watching horror movies! You are such a little jerk! Why did I ever come here?”
“Well, maybe because you are my girlfriend.”
“Where did you get that idea?”
“Well, that’s what you said before we came here!”

Miss Annoying

Miss Annoying
In the morning I have an alive alarm clock. She rubs her head against mine very harshly. She uses her prickly tongue to lick my cheeks. She meows in my ear as loud as a tiger. She has long gray whiskers that tickle my morning face. She pounces on my back digging her sharp claws into me. I open my eyes and there she is waiting for me to get up.

A midnight Poem

By Bella Singer
Edmunds Elementary School, Grade 4

There I was so sound asleep when I heard some tip toe feet,
the crickety crack of the stairs prickles me with all my hairs,
I step on the floor, so cold like ice,
I turn the knob with a slice,
I walk though the cold,
The ground feels like mold,
I hear doors slam,
I feel I am in the kitchen,
I see my sister,
