winter Tales

Winter

Snowy tires,
frozen telephone wires.
Mittens, hats, and gloves, galore!
Eager children screaming; more, more, more!
Frost bitten cheeks,
tiny snowflakes fill the streets.
Winter is the season that can't be beat.
Hot coco by the fire,
and animals that are tired.
One by one they go to bed,
wishing winter would never end.

Blankets of Snow

Waking up to snowy morning air
The chills up and down my spine
I believe it is now time
For winter to shine.

Stepping out into the white blanketed land
Snowflakes fall onto my frozen little hands.
Angles surround me
Like temporary tattoos that flow through the white wintery sea.

The snowflakes pile higher and higher
Into a mountainous heap.
The only way to cross is by taking a quantum leap.

Inside and under this mountain of snow
Three little kids have made it hollow.
Inside they laugh and giggle and laugh to keep warm

Winter Tales

Winter Tales.

Each year we ask students to send us a story, poem or an essay about winter. They can focus on the holidays or the seasons -- the weather, the outdoors or the emotions. The work can be real or made up. Long or short.

Winter Tales

I slept one night,
Lullabied to sleep
By the silent rhythm of each flake
Falling to the crystal ground
And as I slept
I dreamed
And went into the sea,
My mind

I sat upon my doorstep
Of gray and sparkling rainbow hues
The wind was crisp
But excited with mischief
Knowing omnisciently
What would proceed
Then I saw it-
The moon
Making prisms of each flake
