Looking

I ran through the woods
Fleeing in terror
From what lie behind
I ran through the woods
Not sure what to do
Afraid of what lies ahead
I ran through the woods
Going in circles
Trying to make up my mind
With minimal success
I ran through the woods
Looking for an escape
But will I ever find one?
Will I ever find you?

Fear

Fear

By Robert Knox
Rutland High School, Grade 11

Trying to hide
From something
That can't really
Harm me in
Any way possible
But it still
Creates a sense
Of panic in my head
I try everything
That I can
Think of
But nothing works
You walk in the door
And I get up
And run to you
But you aren't
Really there
Just another
Hallucination
Just like always
I return to
My corner, shivering
Wondering when these
Hallucinations
Of you will
Finally end
And the fear that
Has taken root
In my mind
Will finally be
Erased

Just a Dream?

Just a Dream?

By Robert Knox
Rutland High School, Grade 11

You go down stairs
To a surprising
Family breakfast
Your parents say
That they want
To rebuild their
Relationship with you
This all seems
To be too good
To be true
You leave for school
Everything seems to
Be going great
You get the
Highest grade on
That test that
Everyone thought
They were going
To fail
You rekindle
That flame with
Your ex-boyfriend
And are talking
To your best friend again
Towards the end
Of the day when
You are actually
Looking forward to
Going home, you
Get called down to
The principal's office
And are told that
Your house was
Set ablaze with
Your family inside
It doesn't seem right
Just when everything
Was starting to work
You arrive home with
Tears in your eyes
And wake up to
The sound of
The alarm clock
It was all
Just a dream
None of that
Actually happened
You get dressed
And go down stairs
To a surprising
Family breakfast

Reflection

Reflection

By Robert Knox
Rutland High School, Grade 11

I look at my
Reflection
In the water
And I wonder
If the person
That I see
Is really me
Or if it's
Someone who
Looks like me
Living on the
Other side
And looking into
The water and
Thinking the
Same thing
Is it just a
Reflection?
Or is it
Something more?

Sleep

It's all too much
For me to handle
I close my eyes
And try to sleep
But all I can see
Is your face
Crying because
I abandoned you
I didn't do that
I wasn't even there
When it happened
How am I responsible?

But the single fact
That I wasn't there
Is enough to keep
Haunting my dreams
And preventing me
From getting any
Sleep

Whisper

Whisper

By Robert Knox
Rutland High School, Grade 11

I need
Just a whisper
Just some word
That it's all right
Nothing's wrong
Just a whisper
In the wind
Would satisfy me
So please
Give it to me
Just a whisper
Don't walk away
All I want
Is a whisper
To tell me
Everythng's fine
Between us
Please
All I need
Is a
Whisper

Not Today

Thunder rumbles in the distance
They enter my cell
And tie up my hands
It's time for my sentence
To be carried out
Thunder rumbles in the distance
As I step outside
Tears begin to fall
They become steadier
As I approach the noose
Thunder rumbles in the distance
I reach the stage
Where my final act
Will be held
The tears fall even harder
Thunder rumbles in the distance

Mistakes

Mistakes

By Robert Knox
Rutland High School, Grade 11

Can you forgive a friend
For making a mistake
That almost ruined
Your entire life?
It may take a while
But it can be forgiven
All mistakes are just that
Mistakes
No one means for
Them to happen
They just do
But when a friend
Tells everyone your
Deppest, darkest secret
It becomes very hard
To forgive them even if

Untitled

These immense fields full of life
I sit here and observe
This tranquil way of life
Eating fresh cotton candy off the land
I just want to tay here forever
Suddenly the animals scatter
And all turns to black
My once peaceful
Place is now full
Of chaos
All that I feel is
Fear
I try to get up
But I realize that
I am falling
I try to grab
The cliff walls
Moning by ever slower

The Number Three

The number three
Means much to me
It's my lucky number
And the number of friens I truly trust
It's funny how one little number
Can have so much meaning
But because it does
I will forever
Love the number three

Eternal Sleep

Lying in a field of flowers
I finally let my guard down
And as I slowly fall into
An eternal sleep
You approach me
And attack me
With your hate
Why do you always
Do these things to me?
Why do I always fall foryou?
I just want it to end
As I fall into eternal sleep

Deception

You don't know me
So how can you judge
The kind of person I am?
You think you can see through me
But I'm the one
Who sees through you
You talk about me when I'm not around
And try to be nice to me when I am
I've been decieved by people like you in the past
And I'm not going todeal with it again
I'm done dealing with you
As you approach me again
I pull out my knife

Mistakes II

Everyone makes
Mistakes
But you seem to only notice mine
Every little thing I do
You seem to criticize
Even though you make more
Mistakes
Than anyone else
It's okay
Because its only you
Why do you pick on me
Think that you're better than me
Is it because my biggest
Mistake
Is something that
Nobody knows?

The World

Growing up
Everyone tries to tell you
How great the world is
It only brings joy and good fortune
But that's not reality
Yes the world does bring joy and good fortune
But only to a select few
The rest of us
Are left to fight
Suffering losses of personality, character, and lives along the way
The world isn't a happy place
It's a place of fear and anger
It destroys the weak
