What Is Humanity?

My English teacher's parents were killed in a car crash two school-years ago Memorial Weekend. This past Memorial Day weekend, she stood up in front of the class and told us. We all knew, of course we all knew, but she told us. My English teacher used, "murdered", not "killed". She said that she might not be able to hold it together the following week and that we might have a sub. My English teacher was usually this very light, calm person whom I admire to this day but when she was giving us a heads up, she was solemn and removed. I could almost see tears starting to form in her eyes but perhaps it was the light reflected off her glasses. She was in pain and all of us as students were noticeably uncomfortable. Was she going to start bawling? What should we do if she did? As a human being, I wanted to go hug her, comfort her, but as a student, that would have been inappropriate. As a human being, I was in pain just listening to her be in pain. It was horrible.

Mr. Remourse

There he stands,
Straight as a Statue,
In The Sands,
His eyes wildly Scream,
His lips Tightly Glued,
His Body looks week,
This is a strange man,
But Not to be Rude,
I say "i'd like to help you",

And with these words,
that strange man Burst,
Crying in The Sands Below,
Why he Grieved,
Why he Wept,
Things i did not know.

He Looks to me,
salt soaked tears,
bleeding down his cheeks,
"I didn't mean to"
"It's not my fault"
"please sir, tell me of what you speak"
Then with Just a glance at the Bloody Knife,
Now My Eyes Are The Ones Who Scream

Bitter

Scanning the words and running along the lines of text, I slowly chuckle to myself and can't help but announce to an empty house,

"Ah, young love!"

I still can't stop laughing.

Murder

Heart beating
Heavy breathing
Blood pouring
Panic striken
The sound of sirens fill my ears
I hurry to hide the evidence
Making sure to leave no more behind
I make a quick escape
Fleeing into the woods
As the cops arive
The trackers have
Already been dispatched
I hear them coming closer
I hear the river
But where is it?
I can hear men shouting clearly now

Consequences

I'm lying here
In a pool of blood
What did I do
To deserve this?
How was I supposed to know
That she was his girlfriend?
She came onto me
I would have never
Gone along with it
If I knew that this
Was what would happen
I try to get up
And call someone for help
But the pain is too intense
I fall back to the ground
What can I do?
Everything is going black

Death

It was just
A whisper in the wind
But it was enough
Information
I knew what you
Were planning to do
But I'll stop you
You can't beat me
I'm unbeatable
I'll kill you first
And you won't expect it
As I approach your door
You step out
We greet each other
Like nothing was wrong
And in the blink of an eye
We were both dead

It's over

You've hurt her
For the last time
She's not going to
Put up with it anymore
The way you treat her
It's just not right
She won't stay
Any longer
She'll find a way out
But you don't listen
You go home
And beat her once again
But this time
She fights back
She locks herself
In the bedroom
And goes over
To the dresser
And pulls out a gun
You break open the door

Wonderful Future

The dark street is full of people, and they all look the same. They look beaten and secluded.
I walk past, escorted by a police officer; cautiously looking into the faces of those huddled around bins of fire, the flickering glow revealing their hawk-like eyes glaring at me out of blood-stained dirty faces, some grasping an L-shaped bundle of rags. Those glares all say one thing: fresh meat.
